The Unit are in full alert. They race for the waiting airship while dodging past Overwatch agents and base employees for a flight that needs to take off as soon as possible. Barnes steps in first followed by Manhattan, Apollo, and Grief before she shouts to the pilot to take off for a flight over to a Blackwatch site in Siberia. Minutes after the ship leaves, The Unit sit down and fall to silence as the aircraft goes as fast as it can for Siberia. Then, the table in the middle of the aircraft beeps and projects images of Lawson, Morrison, and Reyes. Reyes can be seen clenching his fists
"We're sending Overwatch agents for backup." Morrison reports. "Just get to the site as soon as you can."
"You better move fast." Reyes snarls at the Unit. "For the sake of the world, I hope you're wrong about Bogdan. If he can reactivate Black Pestilence, it could... just stop him."
"I'm leaving Washington D.C. with Miller." Lawson removes his hat. "President Malley must know of the potential threat the world could be facing. A rogue special operations group must not get their hands on this weapon."
Black Watch R&D Site Chimera: Siberia
A light snowstorm starts to settle in around the R&D base of Blackwatch. There were guards along with a good batch of scientists working on projects that were considered ethical and safe by the UN. It was a restriction the UN placed on Blackwatch when they were first discovered as a black operations unit for Overwatch. The base used to be the top weapons development and research hub in Blackwatch. Now, Overwatch has used it as a space for humanitarian type creations.
A lone security guard watches over security footage of the outside of the base. So far, nothing is out there. Just the freezing Siberian weather once again. He's practically the eyes of the outside of the base. He hums to himself, bored out of his mind, and glances at his phone, checking the time before his shift ends.
Suddenly, the screen goes blank and black. It was only seconds until the guard tilts his head up. He stares at the screen and taps at it. The screen turns back on to display the raging wind blowing the snow in the background. Weird. His eyes remained glued to the screen before taking a swing of coffee. The screen displays the same boring, miserable storm brewing outside. Suddenly, his radio beeps. He dutifully answers it, perhaps to respond a radio check.
"Hey, can you see Vision and Blizzard team on screen? They failed to report in on their radios."
The security guard checks the screen. The snowstorm obscures the feed, making it difficult to find the two out of the many five-man mobile teams patrolling the outside of the base. He finally notices a group of soldiers walking up a hill. He presses a button to move the camera to the left. The soldiers approach for the main gate. The guard gets on his radio.
"Yeah, I think I see Vision. They're supposed to be heading in, right?"
"No, they're not responding to my hails. Scan them."
The guard presses a button to zoom in. It does nothing. After he presses it again and again, he looks up. The feed has turned black. He checks the monitors on all the other cameras that scan the outside and they too start to go black one by one. He checks the first one while going back on his radio. The monitors flickers and shows a pink skull as music plays in the background, a rude way to laugh at the fool who has taken control of the security systems.
"Someone check the base!" He shouts. "We've been hacked."
Suddenly, the lights in the room shut off. A few seconds later, the lights come back on while a voice announces the backup generators are on. Then, a monitor flicker back on. The guard races back to see a group of masked soldiers stacking thermal explosives to the door. He presses the button to alert the commander, but the radio fall silent. He could only watch as a man in a metal helmet and respirator detonates the explosives
