Mercy spent a good amount of time checking on The Unit's youngest fighter, Manhattan, as he lies in a hospital bed being patched up for falling off of a cliff after it was blown apart by a rocket launcher. Manhattan, or Aaron, didn't reveal his name, although his mask was removed from his face after being moved to an Overwatch base. As she checks up on his vitals through the monitor, a knock came from the door.
"Come in." Mercy answered back. The door slowly opens, Charles and his sister, Jennie, poke their heads through the door. They walk in and take a look at the man that is part of a mysterious squad of soldiers.
"Is this the guy that fell from the cliff? Who is he with?" Charles questions as he stares at the patient.
Mercy nods. "He is called Manhattan, according to his field officer, Barnes." Mercy takes another look at Manhattan before growing an impressed look on her face." He is the youngest operative in The Unit at a age of 20 years old."
Charles eyes widen. This is stunning, considering the fact that Charles himself is fifteen and he hasn't even held a gun before. Yet, a man only five years older than him was knocked out by a blast of a rocket launcher and he seemed pretty lethal, even though he was just lying down in that bed.
Suddenly, a landline phone rings from the table. Mercy walks by Charles and answers it.
"I got to take this." She grabs the receiver and holds it near her ear. She pauses for a moment as mumble emitted from the other end. "Yes, this is Doctor Zeigler." Mercy greeted in a warm tone. There was silence.
"Oh, is this Lawson? Yeah, I am watching him right now." More silence followed by. Her mood picks up a sense of surprise.
"You want to see him? Sure, I will head down to escort you guys in. Alright, I will see you then." Mercy hangs up the phone before she turns her direction to Charles.
"I got to go liebes, Manhattan's team have just arrived to see him." She looks around in shock. "I forgot to ask someone to watch him while I'm gone. Can you do that for me? He is not going to feel good once he recovers?"
"Sure, I can handle that." Charles beams with confidence.
"Thank you, I won't be gone for long." Mercy smiles to the kids before heading out of the room. Charles stands still for a few minutes before taking a seat on one of the plastic chairs in the room.
"Hey, do you know who this guy is? He doesn't look like a Overwatch soldier." Jennie points out to Charles.
"Beats me" Charles states as he stares at Aaron before looking at the ground. Thinking back to what happened yesterday. He made a deal with the devil to save his sister from death, as it was a selfless act of heroism. Like the soldier lying in bed before him, Manhattan's team put their faith in his hands to watch over them as he took down Talon mercenaries before they could harm anyone.
"Ahhh, what the hell!!" A voice screamed in the room. Charles and Jennie quickly look up and saw that The Unit's sniper, Manhattan, just woke up from being unconscious, as he fell from a cliff.
"OH GOD! Where am I?" Aaron shouts in panic, as he frantically looks left and right of the room, taking in from the sudden free fall that happened yesterday. Charles rushes over near to the left side of the hospital bed.
"You are at Overwatch medical bay. You fell off a cliff after from being blasted by a bazooka." Charles quickly explains.
"And I am still breathing? Wow, that scumbag must be a terrible shot with a rocket launcher." Aaron breathes in a sigh of relief. He stares at the two kids for a couple of minutes. "So where is the doctor? Are you her little assistants?" Aaron teased. Suddenly, his facial expression grows blunt.
