Chapter Notes: This doesn't take place in the real story. It's just a Halloween special for the unit. Now we got that out of the way, let's begin.
General Lawson walks down the corridors of one of the office facilities of Fort Bragg, passing by many Halloween decorations planted by the staff of the large military base. Even though it was Halloween, the military facility was still busy with handling combat operations overseas. The ones who were relieved of their duties took it easy, either to dress up or go off base and have fun. He reaches to the elevator and presses a button, calling for an elevator. As the elevator lets off a ding and opens, Lawson steps inside and presses a button to take him down to the barracks.
Shortly after, the elevator lets out a ding and releases him into the barracks. At first, the elite operator's barracks was quiet, perhaps too quiet...
Then the silence finally breaks away as Chloe walks out of her room. Her head snaps to the commander as she walks in front of him and stops in her tracks before standing at attention as a token of discipline.
"Afternoon, sir." Chloe greets.
"At ease, Chloe." Lawson replies. "Where is the rest of the team?"
"In many places, Apollo is boxing at the weight room, Grief is picking up lunch and Manhattan is at the firing range." Chloe explains. Her head tilts over to the side. "So, what are you up to?"
Lawson lets out a sigh, carrying a tone of disappointment as he holds out a binder in his hands. "I was about to deliver some sudden news. The King has reached out to the president that he won't need our services to take care of his problem in Aldersburn."
Chloe blinks a couple of times quickly. "Wow, what got him to change his mind?"
"He said to have called on some monster slaying experts and what is said to be alchemists." Lawson scratches his head a little as he read the last part. "Anyways, we won't be capturing or killing the mad scientist, Junkenstien."
Chloe raises her shoulders a little. Her face was a bit disappoint, but also relieved. She turns her head to one side and reveals a slight smile on her face. "Is there any work for us?"
Lawson pulls up his phone and checks through for a moment. Then, he shook his head. "Not for today. You guys can enjoy Halloween if you want."
"Then it looks like we can go to the costume party." Chloe says.
Lawson laughs and tilts his head up to the ceiling. "You're really going to do that?"
Chloe nods. "It's going to be fun. You should join in."
Lawson shook his head and reveals a collection of papers in his binder. "I got to get the stuff done for Miller. I'll be looking forward to see what you guys come out as."
Lawson walks into his private office, leaving Chloe by herself in the common area. She slides onto the couch for a moment and lets out a deep breath before pulling out her phone to text the guys to meet her here. As the replies came in, she slides the phone back into her pocket and waits awhile for the rest of the squad to return.
Eventually, the elevator door lets out a ding before releasing Frank, Dimitri, and Aaron into the room. Chloe quickly gets herself up as Frank places the bag of lunch down on the table and hands out everyone's food. As they sat down and began to eat Chloe broke the silence and told the news.
"We won't be going after Junkenstien. Lawson just told me" Chloe announces as she took a bite of her sandwich. "Anyone up to enter in Fort Bragg's costume party?"
