You simply nodded and followed him into the main area, wringing your hands nervously behind your back. What kind of people would you be working with? Surely they would be pretty nice; they were working at a kids' party place, after all. They kinda had to be, right?

"This right here is Mr. Fitzgerald," Mr. Guy broke you from your train of thought as he gestured to a blond boy who had materialized in front of you. He gave you a crooked grin, offering his knuckles for a fist bump.

"'Sup? You can call me Jeremy."

"Mr. Fitzgerald, this is Ms. (l/n). She'll be helping you out on the floor."

You accepted his offer for a fist bump, grinning back at him. "You can just call me (y/n). Nice to meet you."

"Pleasure's mine. Good to finally have someone who seems cool," he laughed, and Mr. Guy smiled nervously.

"Ah, right. You'll be training Ms. (l/n), but I need to introduce her to our other employee first. I'll bring her back after that."

"C'mon, Mr. Guy," Jeremy began in a teasing tone. "Do you really think you should be trying to scare her off on the first day?"

Oh, shit. What was going on here?

"Mr. Fitzgerald," Mr. Guy hissed before turning to you with a strained smile. "You can ignore him. Let's go meet Mr. Miller real quick."

You nodded and gave another grin towards Jeremy before falling into step with Mr. Guy again. He lead you out of the main area and down a hallway, stopping in front of a door that read Parts and Service.

"Now, let me just warn you that, uh. Well... if you haven't already figured it out, Mr. Miller is a bit of a... character," Mr. Guy explained, adjusting his suit jacket nervously. You smiled reassuringly.

"Don't worry, Mr. Guy. I can get along with just about anyone! He's fine, I'm sure." Another lie, but you felt bad for the smaller man. He smiled back at you.

"I appreciate the positive attitude. Let's get this over with, then."

He knocked on the door, calling out in an authoritative tone, "Mr. Miller? You in there?"

You were surprised by the obnoxiously country accent that rang out in response.

"Yessir, I am!"

Mr. Guy pushed open the door at this, gesturing you to follow. You peered into the dim room, shuddering at the sight of decommissioned animatronics and parts sprawled across the floor. It smelled rank in here, too. There was a man hunched over a rotting purple animatronic, tinkering with something you couldn't see. He sat up slightly as the light from the hallway flooded in, and you caught sight of his bleached blond hair and pale skin. You swear his eyes had a glow to them, as well.

The man stood up at his full height and sauntered over to you, getting a little too close for comfort. You decided that he was a little fine, actually, now that you could see him better.

"I'll make this short, Mr. Miller. This is Ms. (l/n), our new hire." Mr. Guy's jovial tone from earlier was gone, instead sounding very no-nonsense as he nodded towards you. You smiled and stuck out your hand to the blond in front of you, taking the opportunity to shuffle backwards a bit, too.

"Nice to meet you," you offered. "You can call me (y/n) if you'd like."

The man was silent for a moment, seemingly sizing you up before a sleazy grin broke out on his face and he got all up in your grill again, taking your hand and shaking it a little too hard. His were greasy feeling, you noted.

"Name's David Hansel Miller. Call me Dave," he stated matter-of-factly, and you took a second to really let his accent sink in. Damn, he was a real southern belle, wasn't he?

"I look forward to working with you, Dave," you mustered, uncomfortable with how long the handshake was lasting. His grin widened, and you noticed a hole in one of his teeth.

"I expect you to treat Ms. (l/n) with respect," Mr. Guy interjected, glaring pointedly at Dave. He sighed dramatically in response, feigning hurt.

"Who do ya take me for, Phil?" He tittered, finally letting go of your hand and stuffing his own into his pocket. Mr. Guy simply rolled his eyes and turned back to you.

"Let's just get back to Mr. Fitzgerald. You need to start your training."

"So soon?" Dave called as the two of you began to exit the musty room. "I want to get to know the lil gal better!"

"You'll see her later, Mr. Miller, don't worry," Mr. Guy responded with a sarcastic tone as he shut the door behind him. You faced him with a small shrug.

"He didn't really seem that bad, honestly. Weird, maybe, but-"

"Just give him time," he sighed, and you simply tilted your head. He shook his own in exasperation.

"Let's get you to work."
