You regretted not taking the time to freshen up last night as you scrambled to get ready for work, both you and Dave having almost slept through your alarm until (b/n) finally burst in there in a frenzy and yanked your ass onto the floor. He had the quite the disgusted look as his gaze lingered on the man sprawled beneath your sheets--you could practically hear the judgement going through his head.Whilst you were trying to make yourself look presentable, Dave shouldered in beside you, wobbling slightly in place as he gave a big yawn. He stood there aimlessly for a few moments, absolutely nothing behind his eyes, before you sighed and grabbed your brother's comb, running it through his messy hair much like a fussy mother would. He laughed airily and allowed you to do as you please without complaint.
After finishing up your business in there, you grabbed something you could eat on the way and rushed out the door with Dave in tow, still bleary eyed. No wonder he never got to work on time. Releasing his hand, you made haste of eating your breakfast without getting it all over your uniform.
"How come you didn't get anything for yourself?" You questioned, nudging the man next to you. He shrugged absentmindedly.
"Didn't get a chance to."
"Well... want some of mine?"
He smiled and held out his hand for you to place the food into, then dipped it back over his mouth and ate it all in one go. You snorted and finished the last of your share.
The two of you strolled up to the pizzeria a little before 8. Mr. Guy was messing with his clipboard at the reception desk, scribbling down something with a phone wedged between his shoulder and his ear. He let out a series of 'uh-huh's to the person on the other line and gave you an inattentive wave. You smiled back, even if he couldn't see it.
Dave gave you a little kiss on the cheek before waltzing off to the parts and service room. Sighing, you began searching for Jeremy over the growing crowd of children and found him loitering at the mouth of Kid's Cove.
"Hey, Jerm," you sang, perching yourself on the wall next to him. "What's on the schedule today?"
He sighed a little and racked his brain. "There's not a party scheduled til noon. It's supposed to be a big one, though..."
"I can handle it if you want," you offered, to which he beamed at you.
"That'd be great! I'll take the next two, then."
He gave you a fist-bump before wandering off, saying something about needing to watch the prize counter. You stayed put and swept your eyes back and forth over the main area, keeping watch.
After a while Mr. Guy came to relieve you, instructing you to supervise in Kid's Cove for a while. You obliged, turning to walk a mere 5 feet and leaning back against the other side of wall, now observing the smaller area. Kids were running to and fro, hopping from one arcade game to the next and mutilating poor Toy Foxy. There were a few flailing around in the ball pit, and you shuddered. That thing was almost certainly riddled with disease.
Against your better judgment, you found your mind wandering--specifically to last night. Your cheeks warmed as you replayed your little date with Dave over and over in your head. The way he looked at you, the way his hands felt in yours, the kisses you shared... everything went perfect. You were already anticipating next time; what should the two of you do? Skating, or bowling? Go dancing? You hummed in thought--maybe go outside the norm a little.
