The soft singing of birds greeted you as you slowly awoke from the best sleep you'd had in weeks. Cracking your eyes open, you looked up to see Dave still asleep, mouth hung open in a snore. His bleached hair was tousled and splayed around his head like a halo. You snorted, trying to turn over only to be held in place by arms wrapped tightly around you. Dammit, not this again.

While debating whether or not you should wake him, he beat you to the punch, eyelids fluttering as he slowly came to. "G'mornin'," he yawned, giving you a squeeze before he rolled over to stretch. You copied his actions, sitting up only to bump your head on the low-hanging ceiling. Shit, that's right; I'm in the RV. You gritted your teeth and rubbed at the blossoming knot.

"Watch your head," he chuckled, swinging his legs over the side of the loft and jumping down. He hit the floor hard enough to shake the RV a little before walking over to the kitchenette. "Want some tea?"

"Sure," you hummed as you took the ladder down. You stretched when you reached the bottom, throwing your arms above your head with a dramatic groan. Flopping down on the couch, you glanced over at the clock: 7AM. Dave lived closer to the pizzeria, so... you two needed to leave around 7:45-ish? Maybe you'd actually get the man to work on time for once.

After a few minutes, he came over and thrusted a mug in your face. Taking it with a small thanks, you blew softly at the surface, steam billowing up and warming your cheeks. You took a tentative sip and recoiled almost instantly. Way too hot.

"Ya have to wait longer than that, love," he chuckled, swirling around the contents of his own cup. It was tinged an odd color from something you noticed him pouring in earlier. Flavoring?

"What'd you mix in with yours?"

"Tang."

You scrunched up your nose. "Ew."

"Hey, don't knock it til ya try it!"

You laughed a little and shook your head. As a comfortable silence fell over the two of you, you took the opportunity to reflect a little on yesterday. Things had moved pretty fast, hadn't they? It was kind of a marathon night.

"Somethin' on yer mind?"

You realized you had zoned out completely, gaze fixed intently on the carpeted floors. Blinking, you looked over at him, where a slightly concerned look had painted his features. You offered an unconvincing smile. "Uh, no."

He quirked a brow. "If you say so, darlin'."

Suddenly feeling anxious, you chugged your tea--which was still a little too hot--and stood up. Murmuring an excuse about needing to get ready, you placed your cup in the sink and slinked off to the bathroom to freshen up.

With a quick glance in the mirror, you cringed--you kinda looked like shit. Your hair looked windblown, no doubt from Dave tangling his fingers in it all night, and there was some drool smeared across your cheek. Dammit, why didn't he say anything? Splashing some water over your face, you scrubbed it off and wiped the sleep out of your eyes in the process. You ran a hand through your hair, trying to smooth it out and pull as many of the knots out as possible. Next, improvising, you squeezed out some toothpaste on your finger and ran it over your teeth, cleaning them the best you could.

After a little more messing around and changing into your uniform, you peered hesitantly at your reflection again; still not great, but definitely better. Your uniform had wrinkled from sitting in a pile on the floor all night, and probably smelled kinda bad, but it was the best you could do. 'Next time I stay with Dave,' you thought bitterly as you pulled a stray piece of lint from your pants, 'I definitely need to prepare better.'
