Finally making it home by around 8, you plopped down on the couch, heaving a dramatic sigh. (b/n)'s head peeked from around the corner, having been in the kitchen.
"How was work?" He managed to ask through a mouthful of food. You yawned obnoxiously and he laughed.
"It wasn't that bad, honestly," you admitted. "My coworkers are really nice. Well, one of them is kinda weird, but I don't see much of him."
"Surprised you didn't screw things up, honestly."
"Umm, for your information," you scoffed, "my manager actually said he was 'very impressed with my work ethic.'"
(b/n) hummed in acknowledgement, swallowing his comically large bite of food. "See? Been telling you for years that working isn't that bad. Keeps you busy."
"It is only my first day. Maybe it'll get worse."
"Don't jinx it," he warned before dipping back into the kitchen. "Don't sleep on the couch, either!" He called, "you need to get a good night's rest! Go to bed!"
You groaned and pried yourself from the cushions, shuffling into the bathroom to do your nightly routine. After discarding your dirty clothes in a heap on the floor and changing into some more comfortable ones, you dove into bed and swore that you passed out as soon as your head hit the pillow.

Having went to bed so early the night before—for the first time in your life, you think—you found it a bit easier to get up the following morning. You silenced your alarm clock and sat up with a big stretch."You up?" You heard (b/n) yell from the bathroom, and you grumbled a "yes" in response.
"Huh?!"
"YES, I'm up!" You repeated louder this time, muttering curses under your breath. Deaf son of a bitch.
Getting up and padding into the bathroom, you shouldered past your brother who was busy putting way too much product in his hair.
"You're gonna go bald," you teased, grabbing your toothbrush and rinsing it off. (b/n) jabbed you in the side, and you pinched his arm.
"I actually care about my appearance," he shot back, combing through his hair. You simpered.
"You look like a small, greasy animal."
"Right back at you."
"Get out. I need to shit."
"The hell are you doing, shitting first thing in the morning?"
You barked a laugh before shoving him out, much to his chagrin. He yelled an insult through the door before leaving you to your business. You finished up and returned to your room, pulling back on your uniform that (b/n) had so kindly washed for you. By the time you shuffled into the kitchen he was long gone, finally leaving for work on time for once.
You ate your breakfast and headed out a little before 7:30, making your commute to work. It wasn't as hot as yesterday morning, but you still found yourself wishing you didn't have to wear a pair of smothering jeans.
As you neared closer to the parking lot, you heard someone call your name. Glancing around, your eyes finally landed on a figure speedwalking in your direction. Dave.
"Well, howdy, (y/n)!" He hollered, slowing down as he got closer. "Isn't it such a fine mornin'?"
"I guess so."
"So you walk to work too?" He continued, falling into step with you.
"Yep. My brother takes the car since his job is further away. And, well, it is his."
