Your POV

"Choco, we're gonna be late for the fireworks, hurry up!" I shouted excited. He was taking his time walking behind me, his sword clutched tightly in his grip. As I was bouncing around, thrilled to see the light show, he was calm and collected, not showing much enthusiasm for the event.

"Y/n, it's just a bunch of big colorful bangs in the sky, there's not much to be overjoyed about" he heaved. As much as he was a party pooper, I was more than confident to show him just how great the fireworks would be. Cherry Blossom, Cherry Bomb, Raspberry, and a few others were also on their way to see the fireworks, setting out a picnic in the middle of the woods. For Dark Choco and I, we took our seat near the small town of the kingdom, waiting for nightfall. A few other friends such as Herb, Sparkling, Vampire and Mint Choco were also seated on benches, waving to us from the side.

"Are you here for the fireworks as well, y/n?" Herb beamed.

"Yep! And I invited Dark Choco to watch them with us" I smiled back.

"This year's fireworks are gonna be great! They've made some nifty new shaped ones" Mint joined in, all of us now conversing until it was time to gaze at the sky. Dark Choco wasn't much of a talker, but I attempted to get him riled up. Unfortunately, he wasn't easily made ecstatic.

"Y/n, Dark Choco, you want some drinks?" Sparkling offered.

"Sure!" I replied, Dark Choco also took one. It was rather chilly outside, my arms began shivering as I tried to warm myself up using my hands. It didn't help much, however, and Dark Choco seemed to have noticed. He gave a small, kind gesture in giving me his cloak, wrapping it around me carefully.

"Oh, thanks!" I said.

"Don't mention it" he replied, eyes wandering the town. I wonder what they were thinking about, so I mustered up the courage to ask.

"Something on your mind?" I asked.

"Mm? Nothing, no need to worry" he answered, still scanning his surroundings. It's as if he was on patrol, always holding his sword firmly even when sitting down. Today is meant for relaxation, so I placed a hand on one of his bigger ones, patting it lightly.

"You deserve a break from patrols too, don't you think?" I remarked. It took him a while to think of anything to say, only responding with a small smile. He nodded, loosening his grip on the cursed sword. Once he set it down, Dark Choco's mood seemed to lift up. That sword must've took a big toll on him at some point. Hopefully some colorful lights in the sky would cheer him up.

-Time Skip-

It was dark out now, the large castle in the distance lit up with lights from the inside and out. Several other cookies were sat on benches or the sidewalks. Me? I was prancing around, bubbling with excitement for the fireworks! Dark Choco? Same per usual, not showing much on the outside, but surely we'd see something soon from the inside of his heart. Once the chatter died down, our fellow caffeine lover Espresso made himself present.

"Good evening, everyone! We've concurred some new fireworks with a bit of magic! With help from other cookies and gnomes, we hope you enjoy the show!" he announced. All of us applauded, we all were sitting in the silence until a whistle sound caught our attention, right after, a large firework blew up in the sky. There were so many vibrant colors!

"Dark Choco! Aren't they amazing?" I queried.

"Yeah" he agreed, gazing up to the lights as well. Flashing lights and images of all the cookies and friends we've made were all in the sky, lit up in the dark night. While I was observing the lights with jubilation, I felt a pair of eyes on me. Right next to me, Dark Choco was just staring at me. I was confused, why not watch the fireworks instead?

"Something wrong, Dark Choco?" I wondered.

"Nothing's wrong" he responded.

"Why don't you watch the fireworks? There's still more coming out" I noted.

"I know...but the fireworks don't make me too happy compared to seeing you enjoying yourself" he remarked. I... had no words. That was super sweet of him to say! Putting down that sword for just a moment really did liven up his mood, more than I anticipated. Seeing him happy made me happy, and that went the other way around too.

"Sure, I'll continue watching the lights with you" Dark Choco shrugged, scooting closer to me. I could feel his arm grazing mine, his warmth bouncing off and onto me. This was too perfect of a moment to get go, wanting to desperately hold his hand to feel his embrace. As if he read my mind, he made the first move and gently linked his fingers with mine. A small squeak slipped out from surprise, the man silently chuckling to himself.

"A little warning next time might be nice" I joked, causing him to giggle more.

"I apologize" he mumbled.

"Nah, it's fine" I grinned. As the fireworks kept bursting in air, Dark Choco and I sat in silence watching, our hands linked together and my smile never melting off.
