Your POV

I was chasing after Fig in a game of tag. A bit at a disadvantage thanks to the extra limbs Fig had to traverse the lands after than I could even run. "Come on, y/n! I know ye can do it!" Fig cheered me on. Despite having to run from me to prevent losing, they constantly encouraged me to do my best. What better pal could I've asked for?

"I'm...out of breath!" I exhaled, nearly missing a step as I ran over a fallen tree trunk. Fig caught me by the arm quicker than the collision could happen, only a small smile on their face. "Now was my chance to tag them" I thought, but just when I thought it, they sprinted further into the woods, escaping my lunge. "You'll have to try harder, lad!" they remarked.

"A bit unfair when you have 4 legs and I have two" I heaved, panting for air.

"Aw c'mon, where's ya energy?" Fig wondered. They too stopped in their tracks, facing me as I was knelt down on the ground. "I lost it all while chasing you" I mumbled, getting up from the rubble after dusting off my pants. It seems tag left me at an unfair advantage, so Fig conjured up another game we could play out in the woods. "How 'bout hide 'n seek then?" they suggested. Now that sounded intriguing. I bet Fig couldn't find a place to hide without having their rear to worry about!

"Alrighty, I accept your challenge" I smiled confidently.

"That's the spirit! Be on your way, I'll count first" Fig ushered. There was no time to spare, rushing off deep into the woods as I could. Off in the distance, I could hear Fig counting down from twenty. Where'd the best place to hide be? Then I looked up, a high enough tree to stay out of visible sight. A cinch it'll be to climb, hurrying up the branches and twigs.

"Five... four... three... two... one! I'm coming, y/n!" Fig announced.

It would be hard to stay silent up in the tree, there were several tiny bugs and insects swarming around the berries in the trees. Down below, there were twigs and leaves crunching from beneath two pairs of feet. Supposedly, that was Fig nearing my location. Drat, they'll find me instantly if they looked up! I had to climb higher, and now as well. "Y/n, where are ya?" Fig pondered, continuing their search around the vicinity.

They were so close! It was drawing close to impossible to remain silent, slightly snickering under my breath that I tried to conceal with a hand. Just as I did too, the cervitaur gazed up into the trees, searching around for me. I wonder, could they see me from their angle? Were the leaves and branches covering me just enough? Shortly after my suspicion, the branch below me shook, causing me a fright which resulted in me moving slightly closer to the trunk of the tree.

"Gotcha!" Fig declared, pointing up to where they saw my shaking figure.

"You're lucky! I had to move because of a branch snapping" I informed Fig.

"Ye sure ye weren't simply given' up?" they mused.

"No way, I totally would've won" slipped from my mouth.

"Well then, it's yer turn to seek!" Fig smiled, galloping off behind the trees. I took my time next to a tree, counting from twenty down. Wonder how Fig' going to pull off hiding when they have their rear to worry about. If I were a cervitaur, where would I hide? The count down was quick, but the game would take long as I had no clue where to start searching. "Three...two...one, I'm coming to find you!" I shouted. There was no response back, not even a little hint from the leaves and branches on the ground. They've must've ventured off far from here.

"Fig, I'm coming!" I yelled into the woods. A few birds chirped from the trees, but not any other sounds. the trees were too thin to hide behind, but there was one log that was tipped over in the open. I leaped over it, and turned around to catch...no one. Weird, I thought I'd surely catch Fig there.

"Figgy! Where are you?" I called. Still nothing, no clues were drawn out which was a tad bit suspicious. When I took a step, I heard something behind me, so I averted my gaze in that direction. Odd, I could've sworn someone was there! Another step I took, hearing two behind me. I moved again, nothing in sight. No more dilly-dallying, I was sure this was Fig's little scheme. "Gotcha!" I shouted, spinning around to see just a critter.

Honestly, the critter startle me more than it would've if it were actually Fig standing behind me. "Oh, sorry, little one" I said, patting the squirrel on the head. They nuzzled into the touch of my hand, scurrying off up into a tree. If that was just a squirrel, then where was Fig?

"Boo!" a voice boomed in my ears. I spun around, leaping from the sudden surprise.

"F-fig! Where'd you come from!?" I belched.

"I decided to catch ya off guard, yer face was precious!" they cackled.

"I'm glad you find my panicked state amusing, Fig" I rubbed off, lightly nudging their shoulder. They played it off well, I was spooked for sure. "Sorry fo' scaring ya! Hey, wanna get hearty ryes?" Fig offered. How could I say no after a long day of chasing and searching for one another? "Sure! I'd love that" I smiled. "Let's head off!" the taller one beamed, hoisting me up on their back for the ride. Getting back to the town was much quicker this way, and Fig knew the woods like the back of their hands.

When we got back to the town, us two sat at a bench chowing down on hearty ryes, simply admiring the buzzing streets full of life, and the proudly standing castle at the far end of the streets.
