Peter POV
Not sure when, but it's been a few weeks since the year began. October beckoned New York, as did a beautiful golden autumn. The leaves had already started to fall, it was colder. We had to say goodbye to summer and start preparing for another winter. And for my beloved holidays. However, a ghost holiday would be better. I can't wait to do Halloween pranks again. I always dress up as myself and make bets with people that I am real. Some lose, some win. You know everyone has a great time because of it.
I had to come back down to earth, though. Halloween is coming soon, but I can't be bothered with it. I have to solve a more mundane problem. Ever since we stole the data, we've been trying to solve the Black Eagle case. Our room is all in notes, trying to translate the strange inscriptions there and putting the facts together. Practically all my free time is dedicated to the Black Eagle case. I have no time for myself, this case has consumed me completely. And it seems that we are finally moving towards some kind of conclusion.
James has managed to decode some of the files and get inside the memory stick. Some of the data is still locked, but I'm sure Osborn can handle it. I have faith in him. Together we're trying to get a bite on the subject somehow and the two of us are doing a lot better than if I did it alone.
We've managed to get a couple of important addresses, but I'm not going to explore strange abandoned warehouses again. Our destination became one of Black Eagle's operational bases, which is surprisingly located in the city centre. They've got the nerve.
However, their case was not the only one on my mind. At least once a week, usually after school, I take Lex to my favourite places, high in the clouds. I also need to have some sort of springboard, and with her I feel like every problem in the world can solve itself. She may not show it, but she has grown fond of me too. She often confides in me about things that have happened to her at school, and I try to comfort her. Sometimes the other way around. I think she understands me without words. If only I could reveal my identity to her....
"I'm leaving," I informed James, who was sitting in his notes.
"Um... aha" he replied under his breath.
I opened the window dressed in my outfit. I glanced around the room some more. Such a mess he had never seen. James keeps the more important data at his place, but this room is the information centre. Our corkboard was too small to hold it all. We had to tape the cards to the wall. We'll have to get rid of it all later. I'm looking forward to it.
I looked out of the window and put on my mask. I used the web and moved ahead. I was rocking spectacularly and phenomenally. I loved doing it, I'm always trying new tricks while rocking. Sometimes I mess around to relax. And sometimes I just jump from building to building. I explored New York in a hurry, as time was chasing me. I turned on my turbo and nimbly rocked ahead.
I landed on the ground. She was waiting for me, as she always does in this one place. When she saw me, she smiled. I shook her hand and she grabbed it without any problems.
With my help we got to one of the buildings. I sat down on the edge and Lex joined in after a while.
"It took a while to wait for you" she pretended to be offended.
'Oh Lex if you knew what I'm working on after school.
"I've had too much on my mind lately. Sorry," I excused myself.
"Superhero stuff?" she asked, raising one eyebrow.
Oh and what kind...
"Yes, exactly like that," I replied.
I looked at the skyline. This view never bores. Before long there will be snow on the buildings. I'll have to think of a winter variant of my outfit.
"I brought a sketchbook," Lex showed me her eyes.
