"The 40th attempt to break security has failed."

A woman's voice rang throughout the room. At its center stood a large device that held Eva in a force field. It emanated a blue light, which for some reason did not give the expected relief. Despite being sterile, the room seemed overwhelming. There were data folders scattered around, apparently with no one to clean them up. There was only one source of light in the room - the glow from a force field device.

Leaning on the arm of this device was a resigned but also frustrated man. He stared at the device as if he wanted to simultaneously destroy it and possess it for eternity. His eyes were not covered by the famous black glasses. The accessory lay a little further away, abandoned like trash. Edge appeared to be on the verge of collapse, although it was previously inconceivable to think that this man had any feelings.

"You were always so secretive. Complete professionalism. Zero family, friends. No one knew anything about you," he hissed through his teeth.

He was blaming someone long dead for something. To think that such a serious person now sounded very pathetic.

"You left everyone unanswered. That's how you were, selfish. You let all your knowledge disappear with you," he pointed out perfidiously.

How ruthless he was. He spoke of the deceased as if he were some kind of thing. He respected neither his memory nor his person. His approach did not at all say that Edward was his best agent. Though who knows, maybe he treats all his employees that way.

"Tell me what you've been working on so much. Tell me your secrets, don't insist. I'll find some way to get to you," he said devastated.

Edge was apparently resisting something, hence his strange behavior. Probably he didn't want to accept the feeling of defeat. Despite having acquired the Eva, he could not turn it on in any way. The device, despite being far from its owner, still obeys him. It won't let anyone get into it. No other man had ever had to deal with such a security system, and although Edge seemed so confident, he was now also beginning to give up.

Suddenly, a noise echoed in the room. Edge made big eyes. He listened, looking for the source of the problem. So far, he had been alone in the room and did not wish for company. Hence, no person in the room with him could be his ally.

Edge sensed that a noise resounded behind him, exactly someone quickly changing his position in the shadows. The man, however, did not turn around, but searched with his eyes for the gun. He found it, lying a little further away. So far he had not used the gun on anyone, but something was wrong with him. It was as if he was losing control.

He reached with his hand for the gun, but didn't reach it, because someone had glued it with a web. Extremely sticky and durable. He immediately associated who else might be in the room with him. His other hand also clung to a part of the machine after a moment, blocking his ability to escape. Edge tried to break free, but was unable to do so.

"It wasn't that hard to find you," he heard a voice somewhere in the shadows.

Edge looked everywhere for the owner of the voice, but could not see her. He nervously moved his eyes, hoping to find her eventually. But the ubiquitous darkness and loneliness filled him with a terror of unprecedented proportions.

"Were you expecting visitors?" a female voice sounded again, but this time it was possible to hear where it was coming from.

Edge moved his eyes higher, to the pile of boxes. On it, he noticed the barely visible silhouette of a female figure with white blinds. She was sweeping him with her gaze and stirring up long-held fears.

"Who are you?" he asked terrified.

The silhouette jumped down to the ground. She began walking slowly toward him.
