Hi, before I start this chapter I want to thank you all for making my past year so awesome, because my year wouldn't have been as good as it was if it wasn't for you guys. I love writing these stories and it means a lot to me when I see you voting on them or writing comments. This book is a real lasting legacy to me (I'm sorry I had to quote Taylor Swift). Happy New Year everybody! And jus a quick reminder: My two favorite musical artists are Taylor Swift and 5sos, and that's exactly why this chapter is based on the song "You Don't Go To Parties" by 5sos. I hope you guys like the chapter and have an amazing year. <3

Warnings: mentions of alcohol (once or twice), past memories are in italic

Y/n's POV:

It was already late when the Realisation hit me. Kit Connor would not come to your New Year's party and you would never get to tell him how you feel, not since he stopped coming to parties. Still your eyes look around the room each time you sit down on the couch, searching for his face amongst the ones of all the people you've ever met.

The alcohol makes it hard to stay in the present, making you think of each and every time you could have told him how you feel. Your nights were spend with him, watching the stars and talking about anything that crossed your mind, while your days were spend with him too, exploring different places and meeting different people.

"Do you believe in soulmates?" It was your question that broke the silence between the both of you, with just a little torch illuminating both his and your face. "Yeah, I mean," except for the gras beneath you two, the world seems to be unusually quiet, awaiting his response, "I like to think that there's someone out there who I'm meant to meet, but I don't think it has to be a romantic partner." That was all he said that night, and that was all you needed to hear.

You went from watching the stars together to him not even coming to your parties. great. An unusual sadness overcame you as you started thinking of how you went from strangers to watching the stars together in the first place.

The people were loud, but they always were on New Year's Eve, so it didn't surprise you a lot. What did surprise you was one of your friends arriving not alone, but in the company of "My newest friend, Kit", as they had put it. They had met a few weeks prior and now you were talking about what music you liked. It didn't take much for you to realize you liked him, he was kind, funny, charming and energetic.

Yeah, it hurt to think about the fact that you were exactly where this whole fiasco started, and that maya, just maybe, you never left in the first place, but that didn't mean that you wouldn't enjoy yourself tonight. The music is loud as you join your dancing friends, laughing with them about some stupid joke.

Suddenly, one of your friends stops dancing completely, nearly knocking you over as they run in the direction of the door, leaving your confused self in the middle of the room. You, and some of your more curious friends, turn around and see him in the doorway, like it wasn't the weirdest thing to happen to you, and you experienced a lot of weird things.

He smiles like a girl when her boyfriend got her flowers and chocolate for Valentines Day.

"Ugh, Valentines Day shouldn't even be celebrated. The only reason why it exists, is to get stupid fools to spend money on overpriced stuff." You groan, Kit next to you on your couch as you skip through the channels of your TV, everything being about love and passion. "Would you be mad if I told you that I was one of those stupid fools? Cause I might have bought you some of that overpriced stuff." He looked embarrassed as he admitted this, but you couldn't help but smile, telling him that he was the exception.

You tried to smile, but you were almost 100% sure that he could tell your smile wasn't real, because he suggested you'd go outside for a few minutes to "get some fresh air". The night was cold, especially because your clothes weren't the perfect choice for this kind of weather.

Your pajamas weren't the best clothes to be outside in, especially not in march, but going on a late night drive with Kit seemed like way too much fun to pass and like a situation where pajamas were the best choice of clothes. After a while, the cold stops being as cold and you laugh and smile and talk, all with Kit driving the car.

"Why are you here?" The question comes out harsher than you intended, you notice, Kit does too though, because he raises an eyebrow and takes just the smallest step back. "Do you want me to leave? Cause I can if you don't want me here." "No!" Great, now you sounded desperate to have his company. But who cares about desperate or not when you're with Kit Connor? "I mean, you haven't been to any party since August, so why now?" Your explanation makes you somewhat proud, because you said the right thing without having this situation planned out.

"We need to talk." Oh. Even without having wanted to, you nod your head and wait for him to continue. "The reason why I didn't go to parties was, that I just needed a break from everything, especially seeing you, because I fancy you and-" The words he says after that are obviously said, but never heard because your mind decides to remember all the things you should have seen during your friendship.

"You look absolutely stunning in that, you should be my date to that premiere and wear this." His boyish grin could light up any room and you could feel yourself blush at his compliment.

His eyes meet you as you're laying on a blanket, eating one of the strawberries he had brought. "I really like you." There wasn't a smile on his face, but your smile was big enough to make up for that. "I like you too."

"I actually dreamt about you last night." "Aww, that's honestly sweet. The question lingered in the back of your head: What was the dream about exactly?

"You know, when I was listening to the radio yesterday I heard a song that reminded me of you." He smiled a lot, searching for the song on his phone to play it to you. And even if you didn't like the song that much during your first listen, it became your favorite song faster than you had expected.

"I like you too." You smile at him, and he seems to be taken aback by the fact that you like him. "And I'm glad you're hear."
