"That was close," Naruto whispered.
"And entirely your fault," Sasuke snapped.
"We don't have time to fight," Y/N said, taking charge. "Let's move."
After combing through several cells, they reached a dead end.
"Where is he?" Y/N muttered, frustration and worry evident in her voice.
"Maybe they moved him," Sasuke suggested.
"Naruto, quiet down!" Y/N scolded when he began pacing loudly.
"Hinata, can you scan the area?" Y/N asked.
Hinata activated her Byakugan, but after a few moments, she shook her head. "I... I don't see him anywhere nearby."
"Where did they take you?" Y/N murmured to herself, her hands clenching.
"Don't worry, we'll find him," Naruto reassured her with his trademark grin.
Before they could say more, a voice behind them said coldly, "I don't think so."
Before they could react, their vision blurred, and one by one, they collapsed into unconsciousness.
With Team 1
Shikamaru's group reached the end of their hallway, exhausted and empty-handed.
"What a drag. He's not here," Shikamaru said.
"We've searched every cell. His scent isn't in this hall," Kiba confirmed, annoyed.
Suddenly, a deep voice echoed behind them. "Of course, it wouldn't be."
Before they could turn, they too succumbed to a sudden wave of drowsiness and collapsed.
With Team 3
Sakura, Shino, and Choji moved cautiously through their designated area.
"This doesn't make sense," Sakura said. "No guards, no prisoners. It's too quiet."
"Almost like it's a setup," Shino added.
Just then, a calm voice interrupted. "I'm disappointed in you all."
They turned to see the source, but darkness took them before they could react.
In the Hokage's Office
The next morning, the Genin stood in a solemn line before the Hokage, their sensei behind them.
"Now, who is responsible for this little escapade?" the Hokage asked.
Silence.
Finally, Y/N stepped forward. "I did—"
Naruto and Sasuke joined her. "We were," they said in unison.
"What are you doing?" Y/N hissed. "You're going to get in trouble!"
"And we went with you," Naruto replied. "We're just as guilty."
One by one, the others stepped forward, each taking responsibility.
The Hokage sighed. "So, you're all equally guilty?"
They nodded.
"Very well. Punishment will be shared equally," the Hokage said.
After their dismissal, Y/N turned back. "Hokage-sama, is Haku—"
"He has been assigned to a team and is adjusting well. You needn't worry," the Hokage assured her.
Relief washed over Y/N, tears brimming in her eyes. "Thank you."
