Later That Day

The sun had fully set by the time Y/N and Kakashi found themselves in his modest apartment, playing a game of shogi. Between moves, they discussed strategy for the exam, with Kakashi offering pointers and Y/N jotting down mental notes.

"You know," Y/N said after a while, tapping her chin with a finger, "for someone who's supposed to be lazy, you're surprisingly meticulous when it comes to training."

Kakashi smirked, leaning back in his chair. "I'm full of surprises. Besides, I'm not lazy—just efficient."

Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a chuckle. "Efficient, huh? I'll remember that when you're late to our next training session."

As they continued their game, the atmosphere between them remained light, but there was an unspoken understanding—a mutual respect and trust that made the room feel warmer.

Later that day, they sat on top of a roof, talking while Y/N drank some tea. Suddenly, Iruka appeared in disguise.

"Only three members of your team passed. I couldn't find Y/N anywhere, though," Iruka said, sounding worried.

"I'm right here," Y/N said, lifting her hand, surprising Iruka.

"Oh, right, I already tested her, so she's good to go too," Kakashi said, looking at the sky.

"I see. Very well. I just hope you guys do well in your Chunin exams and that it wasn't too early," Iruka said honestly, while Y/N had the same thought: *Maybe it is too early*.

Suddenly, Y/N was pulled out of her thoughts when a hand landed on her hair and ruffled it.

"It will all be okay. I'm here for you," Kakashi told her.

*Who knew such nice words could really calm you down,* Y/N thought, sending Kakashi a smile.

The next day, Naruto, Sasuke, and Y/N were outside the academy waiting for Sakura to arrive. A few minutes later, she appeared, looking down.

"Hey, you're late," Naruto said.

"Oh, sorry," Sakura replied.

"Hey, Y/N, hello, Sasuke," she said, though she sounded off, as if she was sad. With that, they walked in and watched the scene between Lee and Tenten vs. the two Chunin.

"You guys should just give up. If you can't even get through us, what makes you think you have a chance of passing the exams?" one of them said, while the other agreed.

"Just let us through," Tenten said, only to get hit in the face. Suddenly, Y/N appeared in front of her, walking toward the two Chunin, and punched the guy twice in the face, shocking them all.

"Tsk. If you were to ever lead a squad, I'm sure they'd be dead the minute they leave the village," Y/N said, walking toward Tenten.

"Hey, are you okay?" Y/N asked.

"Yeah, I'm okay," Tenten replied.

"That's good. Mind if I heal the punch?" Y/N asked, shocking Tenten, but she agreed. Once Y/N was done, she walked back to her team.

Afterward, Sasuke had just finished confronting the two Chunin and their Genjutsu.

"Ha! Let's see if you can handle this!" one of the Chunin said, aiming a kick toward Sasuke, who did the same. Suddenly, Lee appeared quickly and stopped them.

"We must not fight," Lee said, shocking everyone, except Y/N, with his speed. Y/N smirked, seeing the scene play out.

Suddenly, the other members of Lee's squad came up to him.

"What happened to keeping a low profile?" Neji and Tenten asked Lee, who looked towards Y/N and Sakura. Then he started walking toward them.

"You must be Sakura, and what's your name?" Lee asked Y/N.

"I'm Y/N, and that's Naruto and Sasuke," Y/N said, pointing to Naruto beside her and Sasuke.

"Hmm. Y/N, will you be my girlfriend? I promise to protect you with my life," Lee said, blushing. Y/N quickly took a step back.

"I'm sorry, Lee. I'm just too young to be anyone's girlfriend right now," Y/N said, apologizing to the heartbroken Lee.

"It's fine. What about you, Sakura?" Lee asked, turning to her. The look on her face was priceless to Y/N, and of course, Naruto was mad because Lee asked Sakura out.

"No! Get away!" Sakura rejecting him.

Afterward, Team 7 left to register. On the way, Lee stopped them."Stop! I heard you're from the Uchiha clan and the strongest rookie, of course, after Y/N, that is. But anyways, I, as the strongest Genin, should prove myself to be better in a fight against you," Lee said, looking at Sasuke. Then, he suddenly turned toward Sakura and Y/N."I will battle for your love!" Lee declared, throwing kisses at them. Sakura dodged, but Y/N just went behind Naruto and used him as a shield. Once Sakura finished dodging, she proceeded to yell at him for endangering her life.Suddenly, Naruto charged at Lee with a kunai in hand, trying to aim for his side. But Lee threw him into the wall, shocking Sakura and Sasuke. Y/N already knew why but felt a little mad seeing Naruto like that.Then, both Sasuke and Lee started fighting. Lee was quick enough to dodge every move Sasuke made, while Sasuke got repeatedly injured by Lee's attacks.In the middle of the fight, Lee started to unwrap his hands. He suddenly appeared behind Sasuke and tried to wrap him up, but just then, a makeshift kunai pinned Lee's bandages to the wall as a turtle appeared."Lee, you know that jutsu is forbidden," the turtle said.Lee bowed to the turtle. "You were watching us the whole time?" Lee asked."Of course I did. That jutsu is forbidden," the turtle reminded him.The turtle then began to lecture him on what he did and how bad it was.While this happened, Sasuke started to get frustrated that he had lost to Lee."Are you prepared to take your punishment?" the turtle asked."I am, sir," Lee replied.With that, Guy Sensei appeared."Be amazed by my awesomeness!" Guy Sensei declared.The others started to comment on their appearances, while Y/N checked the time. Shoot, it's almost time."Lee, just ignore them. Remember, actions speak louder than words. Now, are you ready for your punishment?" Guy Sensei asked.Lee replied with a yes, and suddenly, Guy Sensei punched him in the face as his punishment. With that, they started to have their wholesome moment.Suddenly, Y/N interrupted them. "Guy, we don't have time to stop and talk anymore. We've got to get going. We don't have much time," Y/N said, getting their attention.Guy then asked about Kakashi. "So, how's Kakashi, Y/N?""He's fine, just being his normal lazy self," Y/N replied, shrugging her shoulders.Guy laughed and excused himself. Lee also excused himself, but before he left, he told them how the real strongest member was someone on his team and how he wanted to test himself.With that, Lee left.Suddenly, Sasuke and Naruto got all pumped up."Gosh, we won't make it on time!" Sakura said, looking at the time, only to get cut off when they suddenly appeared in front of the assigned classroom, with Kakashi standing there."Ah, it's nice to see all of you decided to come, especially you, Sakura," Kakashi said, while the others, except Y/N, stood confused."What do you mean, sensei?" Sakura asked."Well, if you didn't come, they wouldn't have been able to take the exam, even if they were a 3-person Genin squad," Kakashi explained."What? Then why didn't you tell us?" Sakura asked."Because this is your decision, and I didn't want any of you to influence each other's decision about the exam," Kakashi said.With that, the others started to understand and lined up toward the doors."Good luck and help each other," Kakashi said, with Y/N giving him a reassuring smile. The others nodded, and with that, they entered the classroom, leaving an anxious Kakashi standing outside.
