Steven and I got home around 7. Lucky for us, Kitty was in the kitchen and Red was in the living room. We walked through the kitchen door and Kitty stared at us.
"Please tell me you didn't tell Dad." I asked as Steven and I sat down. "I, I just don't know what to say." She said as she stared at us. "Look, are you really surprised that Steven and I are dating?" I asked her.
She shook her head. "No, I'm just surprised that you kept it from me. Janie, Laurie doesn't tell me these kinds of things and you always did, but keeping this from me?" She said.
"And you, you could of told me you like her! I could have done something!" She told Steven. "Mrs. Forman, I didn't want dating advice and I didn't know what to do, she ran away before I got a chance to tell her anything."
He said."Mom, just, just please don't tell Dad." I said. "Fine, but you two have to eventually." She said getting up. I looked at Steven. "That went better than I thought it would have." I said. He nodded. "I think she's mad at us." He said.
"Well, she can't hate us forever. Remember, she's mad because we didn't tell her, not because we're together." I said. "Alright."'he said. I got up and grabbed his hand. "Let's see if anyone is in the basement." He nodded and got up.
When we reached the basement, no one was there. Eric was with Donna, Jackie was with Kelso, and Fez...was with Fez. "Looks like it's just us." Steven said as he sat down on the couch, pulling me down with him.
"Looks that way, yeah." I said. Steven started kissing me I leaned back on the couch to the point where he was on top of me. I wanted to, but I couldn't. It scared me. I was scared of doing it since I learned what it was, but after that stupid date with Casey, it scared me even more.
I pulled away from Steven and I looked at him. "What's wrong?" He asked. I then buried my face into my hands and started sobbing. I didn't want to, but I couldn't stop thinking about what would of happened if I didn't kick Casey in the nads and basically run out of his car, in the rain.
He was an ass, who didn't and still doesn't know how to take no for an answer. Steven put his hand on my knee. "Janie, are you okay? Tell me what's wrong." He asked. I looked at him. I know he'd never hurt me like that, but I was still scared.
Not of Steven, but what would happen if we did do it. I was still staring at him and I sucked in a breath and slowly breathed out. "I'm sorry, it's just I-I'm not ready for that yet...honestly, it scares me." I told him.
He looked at me and his eyes softened, which in all the years that I've known Steven Hyde, he has never done. "It's okay, we don't have to. I don't want to do that to you. I'm not Casey." He said. I smiled a small smile and nodded.
"I know, I just, I'll let you know when I am ready. I don't know when it will be, but I do know is that I'll be ready with you." I said. He smiled. "Sounds like a plan." He said as he hugged me.
As we were hugging, Eric and Donna came through the basement door. "Seriously guys?" Eric asked as he sat on the back of the couch. Steven got up and went to sit in his normal spot, Donna sitting between Eric and I.
"Eric, you're going to have to get use to Steven and I, we're in it for the long run man." I said. "Yeah, what Janie said man." Steven agreed. "I agree with them." Donna said. "Look, it doesn't really piss me off that you guys are together, I'm just not use to it, the idea of my little sister and my best friend being in a relationship. It's gunna take some getting use to." He explained.
I couldn't argue with that. "Honestly Eric, I thought you would be severely pissed off when you found out Hyde and I were dating. Let's all be happy he's not." I said. Everyone nodded.
"Oh, also, Mrs. Forman knows now man." Steven said. "Wait, Mom knows about you two?" Eric asked us. We nodded. "Well has she told Red?" Donna asked. We shook our heads. "We asked her not to. She said she wouldn't, but she did make it very clear that Steven and I were going to have to tell him eventually." I said.
"How did Mom find out?" Eric asked me. "It was stupid. It was shortly after they got home. Mom was in the kitchen and saw me kiss Hyde in the driveway. I forgot she was in the kitchen." I said.
"Now we figure out when to tell Red." Steven told them. "Or, we could just not tell him at all." I suggested, not really wanting to deal with the consequences. "Janie, if you don't tell him at all, then Mom will." Eric told me.
"Oh...yeah." I said. "We can worry about that later, all I'm concerned about is summer. What's next on the agenda?" I asked them. "We haven't broken any laws yet." Donna said. I shook my head. "We vandalized the water tower with Kelso's stupid pot leaf." I told them.
"C'mon, that was a misdemeanor, and misdemeanors don't mean crap. We didn't even get caught man." Hyde said. I nodded. "If we break a law, it's gotta be a felony." I told them.
"There's a lot of Felonies here man. We got possession of illegal substances, robbery, just pick your poison." Hyde told us. "Yeah, but if we get arrested, who the hell is gunna bail us out?" I asked him.
"Good point." Steven said. "Anyone else have any ideas?" I asked Eric and Donna. "This would be easier if Kelso and Fez were here." Eric told us. I nodded. Even though Kelso was basically the king of making stupid irrational decisions, and that he was missing half his brain, his ideas sometimes were fun in the end.
And fun, stupid, irrational decisions, was exactly what we needed. "Someone go use the phone in the kitchen and call Kelso. We need some dumb ideas." I said.
They all agreed, that it was summer and Kelso may have a good idea or two. Eric went to call Kelso to see if he was home and to see if he could come to the basement.
