I can't lose Steven
I can't lose Janie
***
It was Monday at 12 in the afternoon. Steven and Janie haven't spoken to or have seen each other since yesterday. She groaned and got up. She got dressed and walked downstairs. Steven was sat at the table next to Red.

Janie grabbed the keys to the Vista Cruiser. "Look, uhm, I'm gonna go to the place we always hangout, so if you wanna maybe stop by and talk, that'd be cool or whatever." She said to him.

"Whatever." He responded. "That's cool." She said as she walked out the kitchen door and drove off. "Jesus, go after her!" Red and Kitty both said at the same time, basically yelling at him. "Okay, alright, man." He said as he got up and walked out the door and to the water tower.

Janie was sitting in her usual spot. Usually, she would be sitting here with Steven, but lately, she's been spending her time here alone and she hated it. She held a cigarette between her fingers. She just stared at it until it burned its way to the end. She parted her fingers, and let it drop.

As she watched the cigarette fall, she heard someone climb up the ladder. She then felt someone sit beside her. She looked over and it was Steven. "I was wondering if you were coming." She told him. "Yeah. So, you want to talk?" He asked her.

She nodded. "Listen, I didn't want to start a fight, but Steven, I want to know." She told him. "Janie, I'm with you now, alright, that's all that should matter." He said. She shook her head. "Steven, I feel like I'm just gonna be added to the long list of girls you've laid!" She said.

"Janie, I didn't know you felt that way, man." He said. "How would you? You never say I love you..." she continued. "I've said it." He defended. "Once." She said. "Yeah, but saying it once is better than never saying it all." He said.

"Listen Steven, I love you, alright! I freaking love you more than, more than music! More than cars, more than life itself, alright! I just don't want to lose you!" She said.

"You, know I feel the same way, Janie." He said. I shook my head. "Do I Steven? Do I?" I questioned. "I never did date, until now. That's gotta say something." Steven said. "Say what?" She asked. "That you're worth more to me than you think you are. I don't want to hurt you, okay, you're the one thing in my life that makes me a little less pissed off." He said.

"Steven, I don't want to fight, and I wish I could hate you sometimes, but I can't! If this is isn't going anywhere, then tell me! I feel like I'm living on the edge of a broken heart, man! I love you but sometimes, it's hard to tell if you love me too. I don't, I don't want to fall and I don't want to crawl! I just want this to last!" She said, basically pouring her heart out.

"So do I." Steven told her. "Yeah, well sometimes it doesn't feel like it." She said to him. "Jesus Janie, I care for you so much, man alright! It might have taken you running away and me going to prom with Jackie and me almost sleeping with Pam Macy to realize that, but despite what you might think, don't even think, not even for a second, that I don't love you! I will admit that I screw up at times, and I'm sorry for that, man, I am! I wish I didn't screw up because obviously it puts us in a crappy place and I hate myself for that because god dammit Janie, I can't quite you!" Steven yelled at Janie.

Steven's never showed this much emotion to anyone before, not even Janie. Janie stared at Steven with wide eyes. "I'm sorry." She told him. He shook his head. "Don't apologize for my mistakes, okay?" He said. She nodded. "Are we okay now?" He asked her. She smiled a small smile and nodded.

"I think so, cause rumor has it that Steven Hyde can't quite me." She said. Hyde playfully pushed her arm. "I hate it when we fight, man." Steven said. "So do I." She said. "You wanna know something weird?" He asked her as he put his arm around her. She nodded.

"After you left, Kitty and Red both yelled at me to go after you. Like they were devastated that we were in a fight. Like they wanted to fix it. Which I find very odd, man." He told her. "That is strange, but maybe they're getting used to the idea of us being together." Janie told him.

"I really hope so, man." He said. Janie and Hyde stayed there for a while, falling in to the habit they both loved, talking to each other about anything and everything. This was the way things we're supposed to be.

Eventually they left and went home. When they got home, Steven had opened Janie's door and they walked through the kitchen door. Red and Kitty were still in the kitchen. "Please tell me you didn't screw anything up." Red said towards Steven.

"Jeez, Red, give the boy a chance...you didn't did you?" Kitty asked turning towards Steven. He shook his head. "No." Janie grabbed his hand. "We're fine." She said with a smile. "That's good, don't do anything stupid, or my foot ends up in both your asses." Red said.

"Yes sir." Janie told him. They then walked to the basement. After they were gone, Kitty sat next to Red and looked at him. "When should we start planning their wedding?" She joked. Red smiled and looked at her. "Maybe after they both graduate." He said, going along with her.

"I'm happy their okay now." Kitty said, picking up a magazine. "So am I." Red said. Kitty put down the magazine and looked at him. "Red...why the sudden change of heart? You hated the idea of them." She asked him. "Kitty, I'm old, alright, me getting mad at them isn't going to change anything. The more I look at Steven and Janie, them being together, they work together. They solve their problems. Janie changes him. No one's gotten arrested or anything. Now instead of being an ass, I'm going to let them continue their relationship." He said.

Kitty looked at Red shocked. "Oh my god, you're growing." She said with a smile. "Let's forget we had this conversation. "Oh alright, but that was very sweet, what you said." She assured him. "Thank you." He responded.

Everything was once again as fine as it could be. No one was fighting, Red was coming around, Janie and Steven were great, Eric and Donna were great, and Kelso and his girlfriends were great, as long as Jackie didn't find out about Laurie, and Fez had Caroline. Everything's almost perfect, man.
