Hashirama got a mild fever so obviously Nakano got extremely sick. Her grandparents nor Tobirama, her favorite person, were able to soothe her; they were both miserable and Hashirama especially so because he was a nurse, he should be able to take care of her.
He was ready to wrap them both up in blankets, lay in bed and cry along his daughter.
That was how Madara found them when he came by bringing homemade soup; he took Nakano and gave him the soup before cradling her to his chest and magically shushing her to sleep.
Hashirama fell asleep too.
