Suddenly, they were standing outside the "Forest of Death," waiting for their next directions from the proctor, Anko.

"Man, this is taking too long," Naruto began to complain.

"I know, and it's kind of hot out here too," Y/N said, waving her hand in a fan motion.

"Will you two stop complaining like a bunch of idiots?" Sakura said, starting to look annoyed.

All the competitors were at the next meeting point, waiting for further instructions. Suddenly, Anko, the proctor, appeared and began to explain the rules.

"In this test, you will be given one scroll—either Moon or Earth. To pass, you must have both scrolls, and all your teammates must be present at the building. You will be disqualified if you open either scroll before reaching the building. You are allowed to do anything necessary to obtain both scrolls. However, for the solo competitors, you are not allowed to receive help from your original team. That is all. Now, have fun and good luck surviving," Anko said, trying to intimidate the Genin.

"Blah, blah, blah! I'm Naruto Uzumaki, and I will defeat every one of you losers!" Naruto shouted, squatting down and flapping his arms like a chicken, angering the other contestants.

Suddenly, a kunai flew toward Naruto, grazing his cheek.

"You know, the funny ones are always the first to die," Anko said, appearing behind Naruto.

Out of nowhere, another kunai appeared at Anko's neck.

"You dropped this," a Genin with long black hair said, startling both Naruto and Anko.

'Huh, so he's here. Gosh, he looks even creepier up close,' Y/N thought. Suddenly, she sensed a familiar presence. Looking around, she caught a glimpse of red inside the Forest of Death. Smiling, she quickly turned away to avoid giving away his position.

"Huh? What are you doing, Konohamaru?" Naruto's words snapped Y/N out of her thoughts. She looked up to see him and his little squad.

"Sharp as ever, boss! We're here to interview you about the Chuunin Exams for the Academy School Newspaper," Konohamaru said excitedly.

"Huh, I guess I must have forgotten. Well, Genin, those being interviewed, step aside and go to your places. We'll take a break," Anko announced, also getting ready for her own interview.

Suddenly, Naruto and Y/N were whisked away by Konohamaru to begin their interview, while Sasuke and Sakura stayed not too far behind.

"So, what kind of training did you guys do for the Chuunin Exams?" the female companion of Konohamaru asked.

Both Naruto and Y/N explained the different training they had done.

"Okay, next question: What are some cool things you've done?" Konohamaru asked.

"Well, not too long ago, I had to save Sasuke from an old lady because he pulled out herbs instead of grass. I also had to save him from falling off a big cliff. And not only that, but I had to save Y/N too from being bombed on a mission walking dogs!" Naruto boasted, his eyes gleaming with pride.

Konohamaru looked at him with admiration, but Sasuke and Y/N gave him side-eyes at his outrageous lie.

"Naruto, stop lying to the poor kids," Y/N said, shaking her head before proceeding to tell them what had actually happened—with a few small embellishments of her own.

"So yeah, and that's how I became our sensei's favorite student," Y/N concluded, feeling proud of herself.

"What happened to not lying?" Naruto quipped.

"What? I wasn't lying!" Y/N defended herself.

"You said you battled 10 ninjas at once," Sasuke pointed out.

"And I may not have yet, but possibly soon," Y/N said, crossing her arms.

"Wait, so what's the truth?" Konohamaru asked.

"Let Sakura tell you," Y/N said.

The rest agreed, and during this time, Y/N managed to slip away to Kakashi's hiding spot. She found him sitting down, reading his Makeout Paradise book.

"How long have you been here?" Y/N asked.

"About 30 minutes. Not that long," Kakashi replied, glancing up from his book.

"So, 'my favorite student,' huh?" Kakashi teased with a smirk.

"What? I was just being honest. We all know I'm the favorite," Y/N said, sitting down with her arms crossed and a little smile on her face.

"Well, sadly, Naruto is my favorite," Kakashi said, looking directly at Y/N.

"WHAT?!" Y/N exclaimed, jumping up and immediately falling to her knees. "But—I—but—you—I..." Y/N stammered, her eyes welling up with tears.

"Huh? Wait! Don't cry! I was just joking, Y/N," Kakashi said, quickly pulling her into a reassuring hug.

"Oh, I know. I was just playing," Y/N replied with a sly smile, wiping her eyes as Kakashi stared at her, dumbfounded.

"Well, see ya," Y/N said, getting ready to leave.

"Wait. Be careful out there," Kakashi said, stopping her and pulling her toward him.
