Arian stood silently in the mirror, her watchful gaze going over her frame. Black slacks, white blouse, and black heels on the feet. The female alpha needed to be in appropriate attire for their first outing. Brian stood off to the side combing his hair, and styling it as his mate pursed her lips at his outfit. He stood tall in a navy collar shirt, black dress pants, and dress shoes. Arian had packed for the both of them, knowing how judgmental these alpha males were. She wrung her hands as she moved towards her mate, "let me do all the talking". Brian nodded in agreement.

Brian remembered how Arian expressively told him of how little she liked coming to these conferences. The male alphas all knew how powerful she was, yet they still chose to view her as if she was less than. Brian could see the wrinkles between her brows as they scrunched together in thought.

She sighed as she exited the room, her fingers tapping against her slacks as they continued to walk down the corridor and towards the elevator, "are you nervous" her mate asked quietly as the elevator opened.

She remained quiet as she stepped in the elevator, leaving the question unanswered. She shifted her clothes and patted down her hair as the elevator began to descend. She checked her makeup in the reflection of the elevator doors just before the doors opened again.

The pair moved quietly down the hall towards two glass doors, even at a distance the female alpha could make out every alpha in the room. Though she would never admit it, Arian was apprehensive. She always felt like she was a second away from causing war. She couldn't help her short fuse, or her sharp tongue. The two things she had inherited from her father.

The glass doors swung open, leaving the once noisy room silent as all eyes went to the pair. Brian was internally proud as he kept his head high and didn't deter from eye contact from the alphas around the room; Arian assumed her normal state of poise. She walked towards her seat, heels clacking against the tile, eyes meeting those who would try to make contact with her. It was a game they played at every conference, a game where the few brave would try to silently battle her. Though it was a fruitless game as she always won.

The pair sat.

The room remained silent as one final seat still remained empty, a seat Arian had wondered who it belonged to. Every Alpha she knew was here; most she didn't like. It wasn't until the stench of vanilla hit her nose, covering a twinge of iron.

A vampire.
