Slam!

Arian slammed her fist onto the loud alarm, bits and pieces flew in every direction. The she-wolf had not moved from her office for the past four days. She had told Brian to keep quiet about the photo, she needed to see her grandfather before she could do anything else.

Brian watched his mate from the sofa, her eyes looked dull, dark circles hung below her electric eyes, her hair was frizzy and untamed. Brian couldn't understand what troubled his mate, so he took to reading. A week ago, Arian had shown Brian the library in the pack, that was never used. When they first walked in, dust had covered every surface, it caused Arian to sneeze many times.

Brian went to the library seeking answers two days ago. He read all about the Warzone Pack, then he read the reports that Arian kept locked in her desks. The reports on the last two surviving wolves. It was a wolf named Alexandra, and another named Jane.

He understood partly of what Arian felt. According to the last book he read, the Warzone Pack was eliminated. He read of how they killed off their own mates, tortured other wolves gruesomely, and how tough their training was. It took all packs in the country, including the Power Pack and the council to take down the pack. Arian had told him of this story before.

It had been said that the Power Pack and the Warzone pack were the two most powerful packs to ever reign, simply because they were direct descendants of lycans. The council then followed as the next most powerful wolves. Brian was surprised as the Rikers Pack was named to be in a tie with Alpha Rush's pack. So much history written down, and no wolf used it to their advantage.

Brian moved his eyes up from his book, seeing his mate across the room with her hair in a messy bun, and scrunched eyebrows. Even in this state, she was still the most beautiful person Brian had ever laid eyes on.

Arian looked up from her desk, sensing the longing eyes from across the room. A sigh escaped the female Alpha as she saw the worried eyes of her mate, "go train, mate," she ordered. She couldn't bare to be under his gaze any longer. She had more important things to do than to go comfort her mate.

The day Arian saw the photo, she immediately contacted her grandfather from her mothers side. The two have never been close due to her father, but even after his death, he never visited. Though, she understood this. This is the pack where her mother had been killed, why would her grandfather want to come to the pack that took his daughter away.

Still, her grandfather had kept in contact by phone, only ringing in once every three months. He had always told Arian that she could call if she ever needed help. Being that he was apart of the council, Arian knew he was the only one who could know about this.

She had called him three days ago, only to leave a voicemail. Arian was irritated; the one time she needed him, and he didn't answer. However, when the phone rang last night, breaking the dead silence, Arian practically jumped in glee. She had not told him over the voicemail of what occurred, nor when he called last night. Tonight, she would travel to his home, and speak to him in the morning of what she found.

Once she finished her report, she put all documents and photos into the Manila folder, stood up, and began taking it to her room.

Brian was soaking in the tub when he heard the door of the room open and close. A small smile slipped onto his face, knowing his mate walked in. He closed his eyes and let out a loud, content hum. His fingers tingled with excitement as he waited for his alpha mate to come in and pepper kisses on him again.

Ten minutes had passed with his eyes closed; Brian realized the she-wolf would not be coming in to say hello. His face fell at the realization. He scrubbed his now pruny body, slowly. He moved his fingers in his hair with little energy. He was soon finished, and wrapped himself in a towel.

Forgetting to bring clothes in the bathroom, Brian ventured out with his head down in search of clothing. When a low growl echoed in the room, Brian smiled gleefully as his cheeks tinged pink, she noticed me in a towel. Brian waited impatiently, not moving a single muscle, for his mate to come attack him with her delicate finger tips, and red lips.

Arian stared at the paper in her hands, anger coursed through her as she seen the threatening note. Who is stupid enough to threaten me?! She thought. Arian's focus was on the note as her mate finally realized she wasn't paying attention to him again. Brian picked his head up and saw as his mate gripped a small paper. He had been wrong again.

Brian's lower lip wobbled, a small whimper leaving his baby pink lips. Arian's head shot up as a single tear fell from his chocolate eyes. Her body stilled as many more tears followed after the first, "Brian?," she tried. His gazed remained on her as the feeling of hurt swallowed him whole. She moved foward, "mate?" Her voice came out softly.

Brian ran to the bathroom, and locked himself inside. He sat against the door as the tears came down his face. Arian dropped the note from her hands and sprang to the bathroom door. She pleaded for Brian to come out and talk to her, but all she could hear was the sniffles and sobs.

Her body physically began to hurt at the sound of her mates pain. It felt like someone had rammed their hand in her chest and squeezed her heart. Her body shook, her hands went clammy and her heart broke. What happened?! She mentally screamed to herself.

You broke his heart, her wolf cried.

With that simple sentence, Arian wanted to crawl in a hole, but the female Alpha could not. Instead she sat on the ground, and waited for her mate to come out. Her eyes remained on the white door as the ticking of the clock kept her company.
