She felt it before she heard it. Her body jerked awake to hear the echoes of howls in the night sky. The howls rang throughout her pack; every wolf would be awake by now. Brian woke with a start, quickly finding the silhouette of his mate. His heart rate increased at the raging sound of snarls that shook his core. Arian tugged on her boots with a grunt, then unsheathed a dagger, "stay here," she commanded.

Brian's eyes grew wide in panic as he watched his mate jump from the window. His feet padded across the floor catching his mate land safety on the ground. He saw as every light came to life as wolves ran from their houses to stand beside their Alpha.

Brian watched as her Auburn hair flowed in the wind. Her body was poised and ready to strike. He watched as rogues emerged from the tree line. A sight that had his hand shaking in fear. The rogues were an awful sight to witness. Some with missing patches of fur, others foaming at the mouth. Brian feared for his mate.

His sleepy eyes watched as his mate ran towards a large, brown, matted wolf. The wolf seemed to be leading the pack of rogues. She was fearless in the way she fought. While her pack shifted into their wolf forms, she stayed in her human form wielding a dagger. She fought as if she had eyes behind her head; moved at all angles, expertly. Brian wondered if his mate could fight blindfolded, of course she could, he mentally scoffed. She was a force to be reckoned with.

Brian watched as his mate lunged at the wolf, slicing at the rogues' back legs. He heard the small growl leave the rogue as his mate continued her assault.

Arian's blood echoed in her ears as she fought off the rogue. Her body seemed to be in a trance, moving skillfully, lashing at any rogue that dared to attack her. The brown rogue leaped at her, almost knocking the she wolf over. This enraged Arian.

The rogue began to move back as he saw the bloody red eyes of the female Alpha appear. Getting lost in her eyes, he felt as if the devil had climbed inside of the she wolf. Arian's canines began to sprout as her body began to morphe.

Brian watched as his mate shook out her fur. She had her eye on a specific rogue.

The rogue ran from the female Alpha, a cowardly move. The rogue then moved onto another wolf, nipping and biting into flesh. However, Alpha Arian would not let her prey get away so easily. She pushed through the crowd, chomping down on necks, and biting off legs. She flew through the crowd on a mission.

Her fur was painted red as she emerged in front of the same brown wolf. His wolf shook in fear at the sight of the red devil. He looked for an exit, but all he could find was the canines of an Alpha. His eyes closed as her canines began to clamp down, but with a push, the female Alpha was thrown across the field.

As she stood back on her paws, a horrid sight met her. A man stood proud as the rogues rallied to his side, "this is your last chance, Arian. Make the smart choice," with a nod, the man and his rogues cleared from the field.

Arian shifted back into her human form, naked and bloody. Her stance was rigid and her veins were bulging. Brian ran down the stairs and out into the clearing, seeing his mate in all of her glory. His cheeks tinged a rosy pink as he approached his mate. He wanted to make sure she wasn't hurt.

Her aura of dominance choked the air that surrounded her pack, "get me that information, now!" Her red eyes met a group of three, who quickly fled from the scene after her command. Brian shuffled closer to his mate, his wolf whining to comfort her.

Arian snapped her head towards her mate, her tense form slowly dissipating. She let a breath out, "clean this up and go home. There will be no training tomorrow," she announced to her pack. They followed the command with no questions; they knew she would disclose any information when necessary. Brian couldn't help but admire the loyalty and blind faith the pack had toward his mate.

As some wolves began to carry the dead bodies away and others played with torn limbs, Arian guided her hand into the pale, warm hands of her mate. His cheeks shined a tomato red as he led her back to their room. He kept his head down as they entered the room, and she moved towards the shower.

Arian stopped at the threshold of the bathroom, "sleep," she spoke softly to her mate. Brian moved towards the bed and laid under the silky sheets. He managed to get his heart to beat at a slow rate, when his ears twitched at the sound of a muffled cry. His body was still as he focused on the continuous, soft sobbing that came from the bathroom. He felt his heart break into a million pieces as his mate cried.

Who was that man, Brian thought to himself. It was evident to him that this man was someone Arian knew, and someone who was not a friend of hers.

Brian urged himself to sleep, even though all he wanted was to comfort his mate. He knew the she wolf didn't want him to hear her cry. He could only imagine how she would react if she found him lying awake. With a final thought of his mate, Brian fell into a deep sleep.
