BENIMARU POV
I suppose I shouldn't have underestimated them.

Around me, a battle raged. The forces of tempest against that of dwargon. I had expected this to be somewhat easier, but the fight went on.

This was still within predictions of course, no matter how long they hold out for our victory is certain.

If I were in the shoes of the man clashing swords with me now, I would withdraw and go home. It just wasn't worth it.

Dust filled the air, kicked up by the countless feet that trampled the ground. Feet of soldiers fighting for their lives and countries. Screams rang out, some in pain and some in battle frenzy.

The stench of blood permeated the air, giving the battlefield a deserved aura of death and despair.

Gazel Dwargo and I clashed again and again, with me obviously gaining the upper hand each time.

Shiing!

My blade slid off the edge of his as he blocked a slash from me, a slash which was but a trap. Him blocking was part of my plan. I had used my momentum from the slash to ease away his blade, earning him a cut on the hip.

Arrgh!

He let out a groan of pain. His movements were getting sloppy, exhaustion does that to you.

Yet, he fought on. This man has earned my respect, he is no coward. He raised his blade towards me again, he then changed.

He came in with an upward heading slash, which I parried away. He then followed up with an attempt to split me down the middle, I side stepped the trajectory of the blade, then immediately kicked his sword to put him off balance. He used the weight of the sword as it went to spin in my direction and slash again, I then brought my blade up horizontally to block the strike.

Mighty as he may be, Gazel wasn't a monster. He had limited stamina, and he would soon run out.

This wasn't even a fight anymore, I have to end this soon. If we continue marching in about two hours, it should take us about 2 days to completely clean out Falmuth and move on to siltrosso. Which is our next target.

"Gazel Dwargo, this is your last chance. Retreat with the rest of your troops and we shall not follow. Our Lord has given us a task, we shall not abandon it to chase you down. You have my word."

I warned the stubborn king again as I pushed him away and he stumbled a bit. He then smirked and said.

"What is this task, wiping out humanity?"

"As a matter of fact, yes." I responded in a dry tone. Seeing this gazel's eyes widened a bit, before returning to normal.

"If that is the case then I cannot oblige. Though you say this now, what is the guarantee that we aren't on your list?"

How stubborn, I let out a sigh in exasperation and glared at the dwarf.

"You struggle against us this much and we're just underlings. What makes you think you would be enough to hold off Rimuru-sama, even if you end us here by some miracle. Don't be arrogant! Taking care of us here would confirm your death, guarantee or not."

I spat out in disdain.

I observed his face….
Huh, seems like he's aware of that already. That is a look of resignation on his face.
