Chapter 19: Snow Days

Start from the beginning

By the time you turned off the water and stepped out of the enclosed space, you were beet red. Your mirror image reminding you of the time you'd got badly sunburnt after a day at Manly Beach. You dried yourself off, got into the clean clothes you'd brought with you and brushed your teeth before heading off to face the day.

You were hungry by the time you made it to the mess room. Finding Dean had already beaten you there and appeared to be making pancakes, judging by the smell. He was alone, much to your relief.

It wasn't that you didn't want to see Sam, it was more that you wanted to keep the older Winchester all to yourself for just a little longer.

"Hey." He looked up from what he was doing as you came over to stand next to him. "Hope you're hungry."

You nodded your head. "Yup. But I'm surprised you're taking the time to make pancakes."

"Why?" He asked curiously as he flipped the one that had currently been bubbling in the pan.

"I thought you'd be starving by now and going for the quickest option. Not taking the time to cook these." You teased.

Dean swooped in for a quick kiss before quipping back with "I had a bit of a workout last night and need more to refuel..." His free arm wrapped around your waist as he moved the pancake off of the griddle and onto one of two plates sitting on the counter. "How're you feeling?" The playful tone he'd used mere seconds ago changing to kind and gentle.

"Good." You chuffed happily. "Shower did wonders. But so did you."

His hand rubbed along your rib cage as he chuckled silently next to you. "Go sit down." He motioned with a slight shove of his hips. "You kept me waiting so long they're almost done."

You picked up the empty coffee cup he had on the bench next to him and then turned to walk away. Before you had moved too far, he tapped your bottom playfully while he could still reach, causing you to giggle. You crossed the room and poured yourself a cup of much needed coffee and him another. Then took up one of the stools facing the kitchenette as Sam walked into the room with his laptop.

"Hey." The younger Winchester greeted you both.

"Hey." Dean called back to his brother, while you went with a "Morning Sam."

Sam placed his laptop opposite you at the table and then moved to get his own coffee before sitting down. "So did you guys have fun last night?" He asked as he took his first sip.

You glanced over at Dean who was smirking as he finished up the last of the pancakes. "Yeah..." You replied. "Sorry again for making you worry..."

"Nah, it's okay. No harm done."

Dean walked over with two plates of pancakes already covered in syrup and cutlery to eat them with. He placed the one with three in front of you, while he had made himself five. "Thanks." You said appreciatively and he jolted his head in response.

Sam seemed to be watching the exchange carefully over the top of his open laptop because he smirked at both of you.

"What?" Dean asked through his first mouthful.

The younger brother glanced back and forth between you a few times before speaking his mind. "Again. None of my business, but I can put two and two together. Just, try and keep the PDA to a minimum when I'm around alright? I have to live here too."

"And Glowworm." It confused you that he was addressing you solo now. You hmm'd at him, trying not to show any embarrassment. "My offer still stands. If he acts like a dick, just let me know so I can set him straight for you..."
