It was shortly after eight when you arrived at the old distillery. The building didn't look like much to you, and if you hadn't been told by Sam what the structure had once been used for, you would be none the wiser from its exterior.
Upon entering the large building, you followed Sam through what felt like a maze of corridors and rooms, far more vast and confusing than the bunker. You were amazed how Sam had even managed to find his way around it. Let alone finding his exact way back to the room Cass and Rowena currently occupied.
You knew you were getting closer the second you started to feel that all too familiar tingling. The scars on your chest and left shoulder were reacting to the book and you knew the nausea would set in at any moment. And it didn't leave you waiting long, for as Sam pushed open the double wooden doors, it was as if a wave of sick washed over you.
Adding to the shoulder ache and extended numbness that spread out from the swollen join and down through your right arm, there was the tingling on your other shoulder and chest, the broken heart you were still attempting to mend, a lack of sleep, and now the unpleasantness of a churning tummy.
You were one, hot mess.
Sam made his way into the room ahead of you. He hadn't noticed your reaction as you had stayed back in the hall. The hand that was attached to your good arm was now placed against the frame to keep yourself steady and upright as you surveyed your surroundings more. Your eyes spotted the book straight away, on a table in front of where Rowena sat, leashed by a metal chain that was attached to an old pipe.
The witch was the first to speak up as the younger Winchester walked over to her. "Well it's about bloody time!" She sing songed.
"Sam!" Cass greeted him with relief in his voice. Extending a confused welcome to you who still stood in the doorway. "Glowworm?!"
That's when Sam turned around to look at you. Gratefully, he quickly realised the problem and grabbed the Book of the Damned, placing it in the lockbox that sat near it and closing the lid. He then looked back at you to find you sighing in relief. "Sorry Glowworm... I almost forgot." He muttered. His voice was stricken with the events that had plagued you both, in the last twelve hours.
"Where's Charlie?" Cass asked, looking between you and Sam.
Neither of you needed to answer the question. Your faces said it all. And upon recognition of your expressions, Cass added "I should've gone after her... What happened?"
"We think the Stynes caught up with her... And now Dean, well we can only assume he's gone to seek revenge... He didn't really say, he was just, well he wasn't himself..." Sam relayed to Cass, taking a moment to look at you as he did so. His eyes showing off that sympathetic look he'd been giving you all morning.
"So Dean knows?" Cass asked, having put two and two together.
Sam was still watching you when he confirmed. "Yeah... Ah Cass... Glowworm had a run in with one of them... You think you can help her out with her shoulder?"
Cass looked back over to you, surveying you up and down before moving to meet you in the middle of the large room. You had already began to enter more into it yourself.
Now standing directly in front of you, the angel moved his arm up and placed two fingers on your forehead. The pain in your shoulder didn't go away as expected, but, as with the last time he had done this to you, all your scars were now tingling. Was this what it felt like to be healed by an angel? You'd never seen Cass perform any medical miracles before and you had no idea what to expect.
