Chapter Eighteen: Demon Eyes

I came home a couple minutes ago, going straight to my room to change into my scout regiment shorts and black hoodie. I didn't think he was home since I didn't see him. I guess he was in his room or something.

"It was okay. Where's Carolyn?"

"She went ahead to the city," he said before letting me go, "want some tea?"

Lately, Carolyn and Ashton had been going on late-night photography for the magazine they worked for. They said they wanted to take pictures of the Tokyo cityscape. They even went out early on the weekends to take pictures of the countryside. Next week they were going on a road trip to Kyoto, Osaka, and all the other towns Japan was known for.

"Chamomile would be great. Aren't you gonna go with her?"

"Nah," he said making his way to the kitchen, which overlooked the dining and living room, "She let me have the day off, considering I took more pictures than her last night."

It got quiet, the only noise made was the water boiling.

"Aren't you glad it's Friday?"

"Yeah. Hey..."

"Hm?"

"I'm sorry for how I acted this morning..."

He smiled softly, setting down my teacup in front of me. "It's okay. Wanna talk about it?"

I took a hesitant sip, knowing it would be hot. I shivered at the sudden change in temperature, appreciating how well he knew me that he didn't ask how much sugar I wanted. Ashton can't cook worth a shit, but he's an excellent tea maker.

"I really want to... but it doesn't feel right telling you without Carolyn here," I mumbled.

He grinned, "I get it. I can tell her when she comes back. It'll be really late."

I sighed, "Alright, but I'd rather tell you depressing things in comfort while watching Jurassic Park."

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's do it!" he said, running to the living room and plopping on the couch.

I laughed softly before joining him.

He put in the DVD for the first movie and I started my story at the opening credits.

"You remember Sasuke Uchiha?"

"Oh god."

"What?"

"Yeah, that dude with demon eyes that got jealous when I breathed around you that time at the unexpected dinner?"

"...Demon eyes?" I laughed.

"Yeah! Same with those other two that looked like siblings. Seriously, where are their pupils?!" he exclaimed.

"Sasuke's eyes are black, you can't see the pupils. And Hinata and Neji are just...them. I don't know, it's hereditary."

"Fuck that. I see one of them at the edge of my bed at midnight this homosexual is out the door before they can swallow my soul," he scoffed.

By that time he had me in tears. I don't know why I kept it from them for so long. I know if Carolyn were here, it would be even funnier. They made it easy to forget things.

"Anyway," I said before getting serious again. I hesitated before telling him, "He has a fiancee."

"What the fuck? Holy shit was it that girl we saw at the Mexican restaurant that time?" he gasped.

"Yeah? How'd you know?" I was surprised he was able to remember that.

"Um...I'm smart?" He said in a 'duh' tone, before flipping his imaginary long hair.
