NEFARIOUS - TAEGYU ??

Taehyun wakes up to the blinding sunlight that seam through the blinds in the room. He stretches his arms, unconsciously feeling sunken and cold. He rubs his eyes to clear his morning vision and turns to his side, only to find the space beside him empty and cold, with the pillows stacked.

"Beommie?" Taehyun calls out, but with no answer.

Taehyun hops out from the bed, and walks out from the bedroom to look around the apartment to find it empty. He was sure that Beomgyu doesn't have anything to do today, they wanted to spend the day together, even Taehyun cancelled all his meetings to spend the day with him. And Beomgyu wouldn't cancel on him too.

Taehyun approaches the kitchen counter and sees a plate of eggs and bacon with a small folded paper underneath it. Taehyun picks the paper up and opens it to read.

Good morning sweet pea~

I wanted to wake you up, but you looked so peaceful sleeping like a baby 🥺

Freshen up cupcake, and eat breakfast.

"Geez, the amount of surprises..." Taehyun chuckles.

It's been a year now since the two got married. Beomgyu graduated first class from college a few months back and Taehyun decided to drop out. Despite that, he still contacts his best friends, Kai and Soobin and always invites them over to their apartment along with Yeonjun to simply watch movies and hang out.

Taehyun and Beomgyu have been busy with their own duties, being King has its moments, and Beomgyu, being the leader of Yeong-won has its takes too. They've been attacked by enemies and have tried to be brought down again and again, but the two stuck together through it all, the Royal Family and Yeong-won have created an alliance since the two officially tied the knot. It's only been a year, who knows what other obstacles they'd have to face in the mere future. But, as long as they had each other, they'll be okay.

And it has also been a year since they lived in Beomgyu's apartment. Taehyun never stayed at the Royal Mansion, because the apartment that they shared has always been their home, even if the apartment was small and couldn't compare to the mansions, the apartment carried special memories of theirs, and they wouldn't trade it with anything else.

Taehyun freshens up and puts on a simple grey sweater and black jeans. He only eats a bit of the breakfast Beomgyu prepared because the excitement of seeing what Beomgyu has in stock for him has eaten him up.

Taehyun makes his way to the Yeong-won mansion where Mrs Choi greets him.

"Taehyun!" Mrs Choi gives the boy a hug and Taehyun hugs her back.

"Is Beomgyu here?" Taehyun asks.

Mrs Choi nods. "He's waiting for you at the woods. Here." Mrs Choi gives Taehyun a note.

Taehyunnie, continue to walk in the woods until you reach the river.

'There's a river??' Taehyun thought.

Taehyun walks into the woods, following the mere words on the note to continue walking straight until he reaches the river. It didn't take him long enough until the silhouette of a tall boy appears in his vision. Beomgyu hears the rustle of the bushes behind him and as he turns around, his lips curve into a smile as he sees the love of his life standing there.

Taehyun examines the clear, clean water of the river with tiny fishes swimming in it. He then turns to look at the side where a picnic blanket and basket was set up, with two empty wine glasses and of course, Beomgyu who's standing there.

Beomgyu spreads his arms and Taehyun dashes towards him until he's captured in his lover's arms. Beomgyu tilts Taehyun's chin and plants a long, sweet and lasting kiss on his lips. Taehyun slips his tongue past the latter's lips, catching Beomgyu by surprise of how bold he has become and Beomgyu pulls Taehyun close to him, eliminating all the space between them, as if the world can't tear them apart. Taehyun climb his fingers to the latter's neck and tugs on his hair in which Beomgyu slowly pulls away, with a smirk and devious eyes.

"Y'know, if we don't stop, I might take you here and now."

Taehyun feels the heat rush to his cheeks and he slaps the latter's chest, covering the red hue on his cheeks with the sleeves of his sweater. Beomgyu giggles and kisses his lover.

"What's this?" Taehyun then asks, turning to look at the picnic.

"Happy one-year anniversary, love." Beomgyu smiles.

"You remembered?" Taehyun asks.

"Of course, maybe it's you who's dense to not even figure it out."

"Shut up." Taehyun elbows him.

They both stand there quietly, just enjoying being in each other's arms. Beomgyu cups the younger's cheek and Taehyun nuzzles his face into the latter's hands as his eyes flutter shut in comfort.

"I love you, Beomgyu."

"I love you too, Taehyun. So much."

"Forever?"

Beomgyu nods.

"Forever."
