The next day, we were all having breakfast when Nestor came with a small tray in his hand.
'A letter for you Miss' he lowered the tray with a single single envelope lying on the middle.
'Oh' I left kept the slice of bread I've been buttering on the plate and took the letter.
Captain and Tintin paused eating for a while, but carried on afterwards.
I turned the envelope to see a coat of arms on the right hand corner. The Syldavian military.
I ripped the envelope open and took out a thick piece of paper opening it.I read it silently and...
My heart sank.
I couldn't think, or feel anything because my whole body turned numb.
I kept staring at the letter.
'(Y/N), is everything alright?' I heard Tintin ask.
Trying my best not to let my tears fall, 'Never been better' I spat out bitterly.
I could already sense their two stunned faces.'I just need some air...excuse me' I got up, excusing them and went out towards the garden.
'Ya alright lass?' I heard captain ask. I didn't reply, I ran out.
I ran out of the main door noticing there were no guards near the gate. I ran through professor's rose beds and ended up near the meadow I came from.
I went down the hill and sat on the grass, curling up to a ball, thinking what the purpose of my life is.
I cried, letting all my emotions out.
How could they? After all those bloody days working day and night. My dad? He was so proud of me. How am I going to face him?
I've let my dad down, my mom down, my whole generation down. The stupidest person in the entire family.
I kept sobbing until I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. I gasped. Lifting my head I saw Tintin gently looking at me.
'Are you here to pity me? Because I don't need it' I wiped my tears from my hand.
'Here...I think you need this' Tintin offered me his neatly folded handkerchief.
I took it from his hand, looking down. He sat next to me.
'How do you know I'd be here?' I asked him wiping my face from his hankie.
'I just thought so' he kept his eyes fixed to the distance. He then looked at me.
'Whatever is the matter (Y/N)?' He asked kindly.
I looked at him and sighed.
'Fired' I said blankly.
'I'm sorry?'
'Fired'
This time I fixed my gaze to the distance, not wanting to face him.
There was a silence. He tried to speak up, but I broke the ice first.
'They fired me...because I got exposed; kidnap they mean'
Tintin froze surprise. 'So that's why the guards left, I was about to tell you' he continued. 'But, It's not your fault? There's something we can..'
'Do what Tintin?' I asked sadly. 'This all because of me. Cause I got in that stupid car... I knew something's wrong, but I chose it anyway! They've got a point' I blurted out. I felt so silly.
'Hey, you had nothing to do about it...again, it's not your fault (Y/N)' he reassured me.
'Well they think I do' I handed over the letter to him.
He read it, and furrowed.
'So? you still think it's not my fault?' I questioned.
'Yes, I still think it's not your fault...this letter...it all seem strange to me' He muttered.
'What do you mean?'
'I feel like it's a part of a plan, like they deliberately kidnapped you to fire you'
'Oh come on don't be stupid Tintin, why would they do that?'
'Because I've worked with them (Y/N), just like you with calculus. They are not ridiculous enough to fire you just because you were kidnapped' he stated.
This time I felt stupid.
'You have a point there'
'Look, trust me, we'll sought this out. Now come on, let's go inside. We...can go watch a movie, if that would make you feel better' he smiled.
Did he just?
'That...doesn't sound bad' I looked down smiling bashfully.
He caught my funny look.
'What?' He asked, then realized, and blushed.
'I bet Captain would have lots to say about this'. I joked.
He grinned. 'Well, I agree with you about that'
