The sun had just begun to climb over the skyline of Delhi, casting a warm, golden hue over the grand Raizada mansion. The air was alive with the sounds of activity as the household prepared for the day ahead. Inside, the house was a whirlwind of movement, with servants bustling about, arranging flowers, setting up decorations, and making sure everything was perfect for the upcoming pooja, a ceremony that would mark the beginning of the engagement celebrations for Aditi and Arjun.

Anjali Raizada walked down the sweeping staircase, her saree trailing gracefully behind her. Her face bore the soft glow of contentment, mixed with the mild worry of an elder sister who always wanted things to be just right. She had been up since dawn, coordinating with the decorators, making sure every little detail was attended to. As she descended, she noticed a worker struggling with a garland of marigolds that was meant to be draped across the entrance.

“No, no,” Anjali called out gently, “it should go higher, and the drapes need to be more even. Let me show you.” She walked over, her movements purposeful but graceful, and adjusted the garland with practiced hands. The worker nodded, grateful for the guidance, and quickly followed her instructions.

Anjali stepped back, surveying the foyer with a critical eye. Everything had to be perfect. This was not just any pooja; it was the first of many ceremonies leading up to the engagement of her brother, Arjun, to Aditi Gupta. The union of the two families was a momentous occasion, not only for the Raizadas and the Guptas but for everyone who knew them. The marriage would be the culmination of a long-standing friendship and business partnership between the two families.

Satisfied with the arrangement, Anjali turned and made her way toward the living room, where she found her mother, Nandini Raizada, seated on the plush sofa, reviewing a list of items needed for the ceremony. Nandini looked up as Anjali entered, her face breaking into a warm smile.

“Anjali, beta, have you checked on the flowers? Are they the right shade of orange?” Nandini asked, her voice tinged with the usual concern of a mother who wanted everything to be just right.

“Yes, Maa, they’re perfect,” Anjali replied, sitting down beside her mother. “Everything is going according to plan. I just wanted to make sure you had reminded the Guptas about tonight’s pooja.”

Nandini nodded, her expression softening. “Yes, I called Shanti ji last night. They’re all very excited. Aditi is over the moon, and Khushi is already planning a surprise dance for the sangeet.”

Anjali chuckled, imagining the vibrant Khushi Gupta twirling around in her colorful lehenga. “That sounds just like Khushi. She always brings so much energy wherever she goes.”

Nandini smiled, her eyes reflecting a mixture of affection and nostalgia. “Yes, she does. It’s wonderful to see how close our families have become over the years. Your late aunt would have been so happy to see this day.”

Anjali placed a comforting hand on her mother’s. “She’s watching over us, Maa. I’m sure she’s blessing this union from wherever she is.”

Just then, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed through the hall, and Devendra Raizada entered, looking every bit the formidable businessman he was known to be. Dressed in a crisp suit, he exuded an air of authority, tempered by the warmth in his eyes as he saw his wife and daughter.

“Good morning,” he greeted them with a nod. “Are the preparations going well?”

“Morning, Papa,” Anjali responded, standing up to give him a quick hug. “Everything is on track. You’ll be amazed at how beautiful the house will look by tonight.”

“I have no doubt,” Devendra replied with a small smile, his eyes twinkling with pride. “You and your mother have always had a talent for these things.”
