I'm Not a Goddess. (Lookism x Lim Jugyeong Reader)

"Kay, gotta hurry..." Areum thought while hurrying through the halls with two dumplings from the cafeteria. "Why is it so crowded... jeez," Areum rhetorically asked herself while listening to her music through her earbuds.

But then, Areum tripped over someone's foot, dropping the dumplings on the ground and one of her earbuds fell out. Nobody helped her up and just minded their own business or just looked. Areum couldn't believe it, Semi Park and Jeonghye Kim already made her spend her own money to get them dumplings, now she didn't have enough money to get more dumplings. But then, someone picked up her earbud that fell out of her ear.

"Oh, are you okay?" When Areum looked up she saw the popular attractive guy from the cafeteria, Suhyeon Park, giving her, his hand to help her up.

"Oh... yeah... I'm okay..." Areum accepted his hand and got up.

"Oh... this music..." Suhyeon held up Areum's earbud to his ear and listened to the song playing more clearly. "You have good taste," he said, giving back her earbud.

"Oh... thanks..." Areum said, taking back her earbud. It wasn't often that she was praised. She had average grades, no athletic ability, not many friends, and below average looks.

"Here, I'll cover you, go buy some more dumplings since you dropped them," Suhyeon said, giving her some money to buy more dumplings from the cafeteria.

"Oh, thank you... again..." Areum accepted the money hesitantly.

Following this event, Areum would sometimes run into Suhyeon ,and they would share music recommendations to each other, usually when Areum was on a dumpling run for her bullies. Before Areum knew it, she started to catch feelings for him. She didn't know when or how, but she just did.

So one day, Areum got the courage to confess her feelings to him, having the idea that he feels the same. But before class started, she overheard Semi and her friends giggling over something...

"No way! You're dating Suhyeon aren't you~" Jeonghye said.

"Of course~" Semi Park said.

"Oh my god, really? You guys are totally cute together!" Minah fangirled.

"Stop~ you're making me blush~" Semi Park pretended to be humble.

"You really are a goddess Semi~ it must be nice to be so pretty." Jeonghye said to Semi.

Overhearing this conversation, it broke Areum. She immediately rushed to the bathroom, trying to be natural and trying not to cry. Once she got to the bathroom, she locked herself in one of the stalls and started crying.

"We have so much in common! We have the same tastes!" Areum thought while crying. "Maybe that's where I got the crazy idea that he liked me too..."

"Semi the goddess... Semi the hottie... I knew my face a problem but I never thought it was this bad..! Why would anyone like an ugly girl like me..." Areum wiped her tears after letting it all out. She left the stall, took off her glasses, and rinsed her face before drying it and heading back to class.

"Mom!" Areum yelled as soon as she got home, "Book me a plastic surgery appointment as soon as possible!"

"What?! Oh my god, what are you on about now?" Areum's mom said.

"Mom, I think she finally hit puberty," Areum's older sister, Suae, said jokingly.

"A middle schooler asking for plastic surgery?! Really?! You've officially lost it!" Areum's mom snapped

"Well even with plastic surgery, you'd still be ugly," Areum's oldest brother, Daeho, said.

"Ugh! This is so unfair! You always compare me with Suae! Why did you make Suae and Daeho so attractive but make me so ugly! You always say I'm adopted, that's probably true! I... I hate you!" Areum yelled before storming off to her room and slamming the door.
