Most Peculiar (Enoch O'Connor x Reader)

The children walk down the pier towards the entrance of the loop. Jake stands to the side as the Twins are the first to hug him goodbye as he gently guides them towards the entrance. Next, were Bronwyn and Claire who looked up at him and then slowly walked to the entrance. Jake pats Hugh's shoulder as he walks by as Fiona nods him goodbye. Millard hugs Jake as he hugs back and pats him on the head. Olive slowly walks up to him and hugs him with a small smile. Enoch then comes up to Jake and shakes his hand as he nods at him and waits by the entrance. Emma was the last of the children, she gave him a sad smile.

"Emma." Jake starts.

"You love your grandfather. There's nothing more to explain." Emma states.

"No, I promised Miss. Peregrine I'd help Y/n look after you all. And with her injured and you without a loop." Jake tries to explain.

"She'll recover. Until then, we'll be in 1943. We'll only age one day at a time. Like normal people. Which can be no bad thing." Emma says.

"What about the Hollow?" Jake questions. "As long as they're out there, you're not safe."

"We don't need you to make us feel safe, Jake. Because you made us feel brave and that's even better." Emma smiles at him. Jake goes to hug her and Emma does the same. She lets go and stands by Enoch.

Jake looks at Y/n as she slowly walks up to him looking at the ground with sadness. Both Y/n and Jake know what's happening, but none of them speak. Fearing that this might be the last time they see each other. Y/n takes a deep breath as she dares to look up at Jake and see that he is fighting back the tears the same as her. Both friends suddenly hug each other, neither of them wanting to let go, but they know that time is running out. They slowly depart as tears start to steam down their faces as they look at each other one last time.

"Jake...You know I can't leave them. I made a promise to Miss. Peregrine that I look after them if anything happens to her." Y/n softly says as Jake nods.

"I understand, but why does goodbyes have to be so hard." Jake says as his voice wavers. 

"Don't think of this as a goodbye. Think of this being a see you later." Y/n states. Jake doesn't say anything so she continues. "When I first started to live with you and your family. I thought you would hate me since Grandpa and me were always together, but instead, you became my best friend and brother. I'm so happy that I got to grow up with you." Y/n says as she grabs Jake's hands tight.

"I should be the one to tell you that. You were the only person who didn't think I was weird or odd. You were the only family member who loved me for being myself and the only person who was there for me at my lowest. I'm so grateful to call you my sister." Jake confesses as he goes to hug Y/n once more. "What should I tell dad and mom? They are going to kill us." Jake says making the both of them laugh.

"Just tell them I enjoy being out there so much that I enrolled in a school program over there and left on the next ferry." Y/n quickly comes up and Jakes smiles.

"That sounds like a good cover." Jake agrees as he pulls away. "I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too." Y/n says back. She then looks at Emma and Enoch as they wait for her. "I should go. The loop is going to close any minute now." Y/n says as she slowly walks towards the entrance.

"Be careful!" Jake calls out and Y/n nods then looks at Emma and Enoch as he grabs her hand and leads them into the loop.

Jake looks at the entrance and then at the pier. He sits down on the steps and he takes his phone out to see the time hitting 4:30 meaning the loop has closed for good. The surrounding area changes from how the pier looked old and rustic to changing back to how it looks now. Jake looks around knowing things are gonna change.
