Lookin at the clock nearby, it was 5:45 in the evening and Benjamin, Winifred and I were just bout ready to do somethin crazy.
"Are you sure this'll work?" Winifred kept asking, bittin her nails from time to time. Must've been her nerves.
"Let's hope so, cuss if it don't...." I put the cloak over my head, not finishing that sentence cuss failure meant our necks.
"Alright, you ready?" Benjamin asked, tying my cloak up then handing me his pistol.
"No." I shook my head, the nerves in my stomach bout to make its way up my throat.
"If anything happens to me, promise you won't come back." He said, holding me close by my waist.
"Stop talkin crazy." I told him, wrapping my arms round his shoulder then planting a long kiss on his lips. "Make it back safe baby."
"You do the same."
Letting go of him, I felt this weird sense that this could be our last time together. I'd hoped this feeling would go away or that my sense was wrong.
Going toward the back door, the time had hit 5:50. It was time.
"YALL READY?" I shouted.
"READY!" Winifred shouted from our bedroom.
"Ready." Benjamin nodded towards me from the kitchen.
Holding onto the doorknob tightly with a tightening feelin in my chest, the fireworks finally went off; charging out the window at full force, cracking up the sky.
I ran quickly out the back door, jumping a top of Betsy and making a break for it towards the forest.
"THERE!" I looked back, seeing them all chase after me.
This should buy Winifred the time to get to town.
"Once the fire works go off and I'm out the door, you need to makin yo way to town."
Benjamin and I were going over the plan with Winnifred, hoping to get every mistake out the way before we went through with it; getting input from Winnifred and looking for alternatives as a just incase.
"It takes bout 15 minutes to get to town on foot tho."
"You ain't goin on foot, you takin my horse while Benjamin takes Rascal and I take Betsy." I told her, looking at the clock as it'd struck 4:30.
"Imma be runnin from the front door while Sybil run out the back. Should buy you time to escape once everybody split up to chase after us."
"You gone be going through the window in our bedroom, once you get on that horse head straight into the forest, there's a dirt path I cleared that leads straight to town. All you gotta do is follow the post."
"What bout you? Ain't you escaping the same way as me?"
"Yes but by the time they figure out what's goin on, you should be already making yo way to the train station."
"How?"
"The fire works take 4 minutes to finish, the ones we got at least."
