The next morning, after waking up, Ye Zexi felt much better. His body didn't ache anymore, and there wasn't any discomfort. However, perhaps because he had slept too much the previous day, he felt a bit sluggish and lacked energy.
He Jinyun first took Ye Zexi's temperature, and after confirming there was no longer a low fever, he finally relaxed. "Come on, time to get up," he said.
Ye Zexi, still lying in bed lazily, responded half-heartedly but didn't move. When He Jinyun emerged from the bathroom, fully dressed and ready, Ye Zexi was still lounging in bed.
"Need me to help you get dressed?" He Jinyun asked, amused. "We really can't skip today; otherwise, I fear I might never be allowed back into your house."
"I know, I know!" Ye Zexi finally, though reluctantly, dragged himself out of bed and began to slowly put on his clothes.
Smiling, He Jinyun shook his head and headed to the kitchen. He had set a timer the previous day to cook some porridge, which was just now ready. He prepared a simple breakfast, including a cold dish, and they ate together before heading downstairs.
Once they were in the car, Ye Zexi suddenly thought of something and asked, "Did you get a gift ready?"
He Jinyun nodded. "Of course."
"Let's hope my dad will be less angry when he sees it," Ye Zexi sighed.
"And if he's still mad?" He Jinyun asked, glancing at him.
Ye Zexi sighed deeply, resigned. "Then there's nothing we can do. I'll just have to join you in being kicked out of the house!"
He Jinyun understood the lighthearted tone but also knew there was some truth in Ye Zexi's words. Smiling, he didn't say anything more. Instead, he took Ye Zexi's hand and brought it to his lips for a light kiss.
Ye Zexi didn't resist but did glance at Yu Ye in the front seat, his ears turning slightly red.
The car slowly pulled up to the gate of the Ye family's villa. Hearing the sound, Yan Man and Ye Haoyan came out to greet them, with Ye Jianbin following behind more slowly. After He Jinyun handed Yan Man the gifts, Ye Jianbin finally emerged.
Yan Man couldn't help but lean in and whisper, "Give him some time, he's still sulking."
Ye Haoyan, overhearing, nodded heavily. "So stubborn!"
Ye Zexi couldn't help but smile and shot He Jinyun a look as if to say, Good luck!
He Jinyun's hand, hidden to the side, tightened slightly, showing a rare sign of nervousness. But he still stepped forward and greeted Ye Jianbin first. "Hello, Uncle."
Ye Jianbin gave He Jinyun a brief glance and responded indifferently.
Seeing this, Ye Zexi also stepped forward and called out, "Dad."
Ye Jianbin's expression softened slightly as he replied, "Since you're here, come on in."
With that, he turned and headed inside.
Yan Man, shaking her head with a helpless smile, whispered to He Jinyun, "Don't mind him. He's just stubborn. He was actually looking forward to your visit."
He Jinyun smiled. "It's no trouble." He understood that Ye Jianbin's attitude was natural—after all, he was the one who had taken Ye Zexi away. Still, no matter how stubborn Ye Jianbin was, He Jinyun wasn't going to let go.
Once inside, Ye Jianbin was already seated on the couch with a set of blue-and-white porcelain tea ware in front of him, brewing tea. He Jinyun and Ye Zexi exchanged glances.
