A heavy silence settled over the table as the Council weighed this possibility. Then O5-█ broke the silence. "It's also worth considering that we don't know the full extent of D-24680's history. Perhaps they were exposed to something during one of their previous assignments-a SCP with lingering effects, perhaps?"
O5-█ shook their head. "dr. Clef and Dr. Simon reviewed their records, but they seem... strangely incomplete. Certain details are redacted, even for our clearance level. Their assignments and interactions over the years should be fully documented, yet there are gaps-missing reports and overwritten files. If D-24680 has some dormant anomaly, it might have gone unnoticed or unrecorded for years."
O5-2's expression sharpened. "So we're left with two possibilities: either D-24680 is, unknowingly or otherwise, a walking anomaly, or they're connected to something-or someone-capable of causing these 'glitches' in our system. The pattern of their so-called 'deaths' and resurrections... it points to a phenomenon beyond our standard containment protocols."
O5-█ leaned forward, voice steady but intense. "Are we considering the possibility, then, that D-24680 is more than just a D-Class? If they're somehow at the core of these disturbances, we could be looking at a unique anomaly disguised as human-or at the very least, someone with a highly unstable influence on our systems and SCPs with the help of d-24680-"
The room went still as the unexpected voice echoed through the chamber. "so they're a vessel?"
Everyone turned, shocked, as an o5, who had been conspicuously absent, emerged from the shadows at the back of the room. Their presence was unsettling like a dark cloud suddenly looming over the tense atmosphere.
O5-2's eyes widened in surprise, their voices rising with uncharacteristic urgency. "O5-1? What are you doing here? I thought you-" They were abruptly cut off.
"Shh," O5-1's voice was soft but commanding, their presence in the room suddenly undeniable. They stepped forward, their face obscured by shadows, but their authority was unmistakable. "I'm here now."
The other Overseers exchanged uneasy glances. O5-█ was the first to speak, "Where have you been, O5-1? You've been absent from our meetings lately. We've had to make decisions without you."
O5-1's eyes glinted, though the rest of their features remained hidden. "I've been... busy... You were discussing D-24680, I assume?"
O5-2, still caught off guard, nodded slowly. "Yes, we were just discussing the anomalies surrounding them. Specifically, the glitches and their unusual deaths and resurrections."
O5-█'s voice was sharp as the realization dawned. "If you say D-24680 is a vessel... that would make sense, but what about them losing their memories? Only remembering before they went into the foundation."
O5-2's brow furrowed as they processed O5-█'s words. "Losing their memories... That's another layer to this. A vessel typically wouldn't need memories of its own, but the fact that D-24680 only remembers their life before entering the Foundation? That's curious. It suggests that whatever force resides within them may be trying to suppress their identity entirely, perhaps to prevent them from remembering their true purpose."
O5-1, hidden in the shadows, a smirk tugging at the corners of their lips, leaned forward slightly. "Perhaps it's time we put these theories to the test," they suggested, their voice laced with a cold, calculating tone.
O5-2's expression hardened. "What exactly do you have in mind?"
O5-1 leaned forward slightly, the shadows still obscuring most of their features.
