Somehow it means a lot coming from Connor. Humans often base their opinion of beauty on physical traits and societal norms. It means more when an android compliments someone's beauty because it's not influenced by superficial qualities . . . but rather by the connection and appreciation of an individual's unique being.
"I always noticed. I just thought that saying you are attractive would be inappropriate . . . in a professional setting. But we're past that now, aren't we?"
Heat rushes to your face. "Yeah. I find you attractive too."
"Obviously. Otherwise you wouldn't tell me that my face is kissable and all of me is delicious."
You snort. He will never let you live that down. "Where are you right now?"
"Still at Jericho."
"Do you feel more at home there than in CyberLife?" you ask, genuinely curious.
There is a brief pause before he answers. "I appreciate the more homely atmosphere and sense of community at Jericho . . . but I have a certain comfort and familiarity with the structured and clinical environment."
"Yeah. Makes sense for an advanced prototype like you," you smile. "Are you alone?"
"Yes. I have my own room here. Not that I need to sleep but I like having my own privacy."
"I see. I'm glad Markus is building the new Jericho." Then you add, "I wish you were here."
"On your bed? With you?"
You clear your throat before answering. "Yeah," And you do picture it in your head ━ Connor's six-foot frame lounging on your bed, his posture at ease but his movements always so precise. The android markings on his suit jacket would be glowing soft blue in the dim light.
"Hmm. It's been a while since we've shared the same physical space."
"Feels longer than it really is," you sigh. "I miss you being around the station. Working just a few desks away. You always look focused."
"I've been told I'm quite task-oriented. Though I admit, it was easier to focus when you were close by."
The flutter in your stomach intensifies. "Oh? Am I good for your focus then?"
"In some ways," Connor answers, and his tone is impossibly even, though the implication behind the words is anything but. "In others, you're . . . distracting."
"Distracting?"
"Yes," he says simply. "You have a way of drawing my attention."
"I thought you liked structure, predictability," you tease, though the edge of your voice betrays how affected you are.
