Waking up late had thrown your schedule off entirely. You barely had time to slap together a sandwich, the corner of which now stuck out of your mouth as you juggle your car keys and bag on the way to work.
Well, last night left you completely spent.
Sliding into the driver's seat, you remember Connor's text. Smiling, you open the playlist he sent and hit play. The soft, dreamy guitar of 'Next of Kin' by Alvvays fills the car. You notice he attached a note to each song, knowing that you'd both be busy today to discuss music.
You text back: oho a playlist for me? ok then lets see what u got!! alr seeing some good jams in here
We walked along the rocks for nearly an hour
I caught the way you looked at me in the sunlight
You took something before you went in the shower
To help suppress the things that make you feel uptight
Connor's note: I was reminded of how sunlight softens your expression when we're together, especially during moments you seem unaware of it. Also, the song just sounds nice.
You snort around the sandwich, cheeks warming slightly. Of course he'd notice something like that. You could practically hear his careful, precise tone in the message.
Sliding into the DPD parking lot, you put the car in park just as the next track begins. You sling your bag over your shoulder and head inside, the faint hum of 'Can I Call You Tonight?' by Dayglow now playing in your headphones.
