The day of the Mardi Gras had finally arrived! Though you wished you could feel a bit more enthusiastic about the occasion, everything that happened recently had you in a bit of a tiff. But, nonetheless you tried to remain as optimistic as you could given the circumstances.
For the past few days ever since your home had been broken into and you had taken up residence with Alastor in his manor, you had been taking things easy. Alastor made sure that you had been getting plenty of rest and relaxation, insisting on both attending to you and keeping an eye on you.
His behavior had become oddly similar to that of an animal protecting its territory.. or possibly even closely guarding its prey? You couldn't quite put your hand on it. His 'protectiveness' and behavior were both a bit off putting sure, but in a way you sort of found it almost charming... almost. Though, in any case, it made brought you comfort to feel protected in any way at all. Even if his way of showing his care for you was a bit on the creepy side.
The feeling and sense that something horrible was going to happen that you had felt previously was mostly dissipated by now.
Of course, you still had some anxiety, but Alastor was quick to reassure you. As soon as he noticed your behavior was even slightly off, he would often stop whatever fears, worries, or negative thoughts you were having in their tracks; Usually with lighthearted jokes or his usual charming playfulness that you had grown to adore. You had to hand it to him, the man was good at reading people.
A light jazz tune playing on the radio filled the halls of the manor as you and Alastor whilst you both got ready in your rooms for the Mardi Gras celebration, which was being held later this evening.
Alastor, of course, was closer to being ready than you were. You on the other hand, wanted to make sure you looked absolutely perfect this evening, so you were taking your time. Especially since you had been waiting in anticipation for months for this night.
After all, the Mardi Gras was your favorite celebration of the year since it brought back some of the very few fond memories you had carried with you since childhood. It was one of the few times of year your family was actually enjoyable to be around after your father had died and mother became a drunken, doped up mess.
You hummed along to the tune on the radio as you laid your outfit out on your mattress. Your lips curled up into a prideful smile as you gazed down at your beautiful creation. 'This is going to look uh-mazinggg!,' You thought as you giggled excitedly. You had already showered and done your makeup, now you were just waiting to take down your hair as it sat in rollers and dried.
Just then, you heard a knock on your door, causing Princess to jump from her spot on your pillow and perk her head up in the direction of the noise.
"Yes?" You shouted in response to the knock as you put on a robe in case Alastor came in, but he never did.
"(Name), darling, I'll be downstairs waiting. Take your time though, there's no rush. After all, they do say slow and steady wins the race," He joked lightheartedly, earning a small chuckle from you.
"Okay, Al! I'll be down in a little while," You responded. Alastor gave a small hum in agreement before walking down the hall and making his way to the living room.
