Timeskip, 2 Months Later
2nd Person POVIt had been a couple of months since your attack and Alastor's discharge from the hospital. After his release, you helped care for him since the doctor ordered him to take things easy as to not irritate his stitches from the stab wound. Of course, Alastor being Alastor, he still tried to do most of the things around the house on his own. He would often attempt to insist on taking care of you and doing things for you, but you wouldn't let him. It was your turn to take care of him, much to his dismay since he had been largely independent his whole life, so the routine had been a huge change for him. But at the very least, it gave the two of you more bonding time, which you were grateful for since you had both grown much closer, so close that one could almost think the two of you were a couple.
Alastor had been recovering well and healing fast from his wounds both mentally and physically. But you on the other hand, not so much. That night still tormenting you like a poltergeist.. His voice was stuck inside your eardrums, and when you were alone with nothing to do, you could swear you heard it whispering in your ears threatening you, preying on you.. You often did what you could to keep the voice at bay or silenced, like staying busy around the house, talking to or spending time with Alastor, or listening to the radio, just anything to keep it out of your mind.
You had often also found yourself restless at night, these past months had been full of seemingly nothing but sleepless nights and the haunting memories of that night. Every time you tried to sleep, you'd find yourself plagued with nightmares about your attack, or the attacker himself coming back from the grave just to drag you back down with him. It was all just becoming too much, but you felt powerless to do anything against the flashbacks and nightmares. You had considered finding an outlet for your pain like alcohol or drugs so you could drown your sorrows away.. But you refused to walk down that path and become similar to your mother. But still, you didn't know what to do.. you were afraid you'd go mad.
"(Name) dear, are you okay?" Alastor asked as he placed his hand on top of yours, the sound of his comforting voice bringing you back down to reality.
"Huh? Oh, yeah i'm okay, Al. Don't worry," You smiled reassuringly at the man who sat next to you in the waiting room of the police station. Alastor nodded in response, looking back down at the newspaper he was reading as your smile fell into a small frown.
You haven't told him about how you've been hearing that man's voice. In fact, you hadn't told anyone anything at all. If you told people you were hearing voices, they'd think you were mental, and you'd be exiled to an insane asylum where they'd practically torture you and treat you like an animal. Plus, you didn't want Alastor to see you.. differently, so you acted as close to normal as possible around him. You didn't want to be forsaken by him, he was all you had now and you didn't want to lose what you two have together.
Currently, it was nearing dinner time and the two of you were waiting for your case detective to call you back into her office for an update on your "living situation" as she had worded it. But in all honesty, you weren't sure if you wanted to go back home. You weren't sure if you wanted to be alone at all anymore, not after everything that's happened.
You sighed in exhaustion and frustration, flopping your head onto Alastor's shoulder, earning a light chuckle from him as he patted your thigh. The pair of you had been waiting there for a couple of hours at this point. You were ready to just leave, go home, and sleep.
