‘I’m sorry we are all booked for the night.’ The receptionist said. Jeremiah was starting to get annoyed because it was the third hotel they had tried that evening without any luck. ‘There is a hotel not too far from here, sir. It’s recently opened.’
‘How far is it?’
‘Six blocks away, sir.’
‘Thank you.’ He drove to the hotel and was able to get two rooms, one for each of them. He helped her to her room and waited for her to regain consciousness but it was taking forever to him and he felt uncomfortable being in the same position for a long time and decided to head to the bar for a few drinks.
Shortly after Jeremiah left, Celine stirred from her sleep. She knew she was at a hotel but she could not remember how she got there. She was still tipsy and under the influence of alcohol and decided to head down to the bar for a few shots. ‘Hey, miss beautiful.’ A voice came behind Celine. She turned around and saw an obviously drunk, weird looking man scrutinizing her with his eyes. She did not say a word to him and turned to the bartender when she suddenly felt the man’s hand encircling her waist. She turned around and gently pushed his hand from her waist.
‘I have to go.’ She said to the man
‘Why?’
‘I have to go meet my friends.’
‘I have a friend here who would love to meet you.’ He said, gesturing towards his pants.
‘I have to go.’ She yelled and made to leave but the man pulled her back and tried to force himself on her. The entire commotion dragged a lot of attention including Jeremiah’s. He became furious and charged at the man.
‘Let go of her!’
‘Is she your girlfriend? Are you dating this loose woman?’ The man scoffed and made to approach Celine again.
‘I can’t let this slide!’ Jeremiah said furiously and punched the man, sending him flying almost two meters away where Jeremiah registered more blows on his face. They broke into a fight which did not last long because the other men around separated them and sent the other man out after learning what had happened. Jeremiah, now calm looked frantically around for Celine and spotted her dancing with another weird person by the edge of the bar. Without a word, he walked to her and carried her to the elevator. ‘Let me go…’ she protested weakly as they entered the elevator. She received a text from Omar. ‘Leave me alone’ she whined, holding her head with one hand and her phone in the other. She received a call from Omar but after staring at her phone for a while, she dropped it and collapsed in Jeremiahs arm, passing out for the second time that night. He carried her to her room, laid her down and tucked her in safely. He adjusted her hair and stared at her for a while, a million thoughts running through his head. He snapped out and headed for his room only to discover that he had forgotten his keys at the bar. He was already tipsy so he decided to sleep in Celine’s room instead.
