It was late in the evening when Yoongi decided to take a walk to clear his mind.

The cool night air helped, but his thoughts were still consumed by Jimin. As he walked, he noticed something out of the corner of his eye—Jimin.

The younger man was sitting on the bench outside their building, staring up at the sky, lost in thought. Yoongi hesitated, not sure if he should approach. But something about the way Jimin looked so small, so vulnerable, made Yoongi’s heart ache.

Without thinking, Yoongi found himself walking toward him.

"Jimin," he said softly, unsure if the boy had heard him at first.

Jimin looked up, startled, his face softening when he saw Yoongi standing there. "Professor Yoongi," Jimin said, his voice a little unsure. "What are you doing out here?"

Yoongi didn’t have an answer. He wasn’t sure why he was standing in front of Jimin, why he couldn’t walk away like he usually would. “Just needed some air,” Yoongi muttered, feeling awkward.

Jimin nodded, looking back up at the stars. “I get that,” he said quietly.

The silence stretched between them, and Yoongi couldn’t help but notice how close they were standing. His mind raced again, and he quickly looked away, afraid that if he looked too long, Jimin would see something he wasn’t supposed to.

“I, uh...” Jimin began, breaking the silence. He shifted on the bench, looking at Yoongi out of the corner of his eye. “I wanted to say thank you. For helping me on the rooftop the other day.”

Yoongi blinked, surprised. “It was nothing,” he replied quickly, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. But inside, his chest tightened.

He couldn’t forget that moment on the rooftop, when their hands had brushed, when their faces had been so close.

'What if I let myself feel this? What if this becomes something more?'

“You didn’t have to help me,” Jimin said, his voice quiet, almost vulnerable. “But... I’m glad you did.”

Yoongi felt a strange warmth in his chest at Jimin’s words. He didn’t know how to respond, so he remained silent, just watching Jimin as he stared at the stars again.

For a long time, neither of them spoke. The night was peaceful, the sound of the city distant in the background. Yoongi felt like time had slowed down. He was used to solitude, to being alone with his thoughts, but with Jimin beside him, he felt something different. Something he wasn’t sure he was ready to acknowledge.

Finally, Jimin broke the silence again. “Professor... do you ever feel like you’re just pretending?”

Yoongi looked at Jimin, his heart racing. “Pretending?” he asked, confused.

Jimin turned to face him, a soft but sad smile on his lips. “Pretending that you don’t care, pretending that it’s all about the rules. Sometimes, I feel like... like I’m pretending to be someone I’m not, just to keep everyone happy.”

Yoongi’s heart skipped a beat at Jimin’s words. 'Does he know?' Yoongi thought. 'Does he know what I’ve been feeling?'

He shook his head, unsure of what to say. “Jimin,” he started, his voice more serious than he intended, “you need to focus on your studies. Don’t let yourself get distracted by things that won’t matter in the long run.”

But Jimin didn’t seem to hear him. His eyes were distant, staring at the ground now. “Yeah, I know,” Jimin murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “I just... I don’t know what to do with all these feelings.”

Yoongi’s breath caught in his throat. Feelings? He had a feeling Jimin wasn’t just talking about school.

Yoongi didn’t know what to say. He wanted to comfort Jimin, to reach out and tell him everything would be okay, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t allow himself to cross that line. Not again.

“I’ll go inside,” Jimin said suddenly, breaking Yoongi’s train of thought. He stood up quickly, his face unreadable. “Thanks, Professor. For talking to me.”

Yoongi nodded, unable to find the right words. He watched Jimin walk back toward the building, his figure disappearing into the darkness.

Yoongi stood there for a long time after Jimin left, his heart heavy with everything unsaid. He wanted to tell Jimin that he felt the same way—that he was struggling with his own feelings. But he couldn’t. It was too risky. It was too dangerous.

But one thing was certain: the walls he’d spent so long building around himself were starting to crack. And Jimin was the reason.

Yoongi had to be careful. Because the more time he spent with Jimin, the harder it would be to ignore the truth: he was falling for him.
