The evening was quiet, and Yoongi had just finished another long day at work when he found himself walking into Jimin's apartment, as he had been invited over for dinner by Jimin's parents.

It was a regular occurrence, as they were friendly and always keen to hear how Jimin was doing at university. Yoongi wasn't exactly thrilled at the idea of spending his evening here, but he respected Jimin’s parents and couldn’t refuse.

“Professor Yoongi! You made it!” Jimin’s mother greeted him warmly, ushering him into the living room.

Yoongi offered a polite smile and sat down. “Thank you for inviting me,” he said, though he would have preferred a quiet evening at home.

Dinner passed uneventfully with casual conversation about Jimin’s progress in school. Jimin’s parents were kind and supportive, clearly proud of their son.

It was obvious they appreciated the guidance Yoongi provided in class, though Jimin seemed rather indifferent, occasionally glancing at his phone while picking at his food.

Once dinner ended, Jimin’s parents excused themselves, telling Yoongi to make himself comfortable as they went to attend to some other business. With them gone, the atmosphere in the apartment shifted. The two of them were left alone.

Yoongi sat on the armchair, checking his phone, trying to avoid any awkwardness. But Jimin, being Jimin, wouldn’t let it stay quiet for long.

“So, Professor Yoongi,” Jimin said, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he casually leaned against the couch. “Now that it’s just us, you can stop pretending to be all formal, right?”

Yoongi gave him a sidelong glance, a frown tugging at his lips. “What are you talking about?”

“Oh, you know,” Jimin said with a grin, “I think i should call you ‘hyung’ here. Since we’re neighbors and all, we can be a little less formal, don’t you think?”

Yoongi stared at him for a long moment, a deep sigh escaping him. “ as your wish Jimin,” he said firmly. “You’re still my student.”

Jimin chuckled, completely unfazed. “Come on, Yoongi Hyung. You’re so uptight. Maybe you need to lighten up a little. You’re always so serious around me. It’s kind of annoying.”

Yoongi glared at him, his patience thinning. “I’m serious because you need structure, Jimin. You don’t seem to understand that.”

Jimin rolled his eyes dramatically. “Oh, please. I get it. You’re all about the rules. I’m just saying, you don’t need to be so cold all the time. Just once, can’t you be... normal?”

Yoongi could feel his frustration building, but he tried his best to keep it in check. “You know what, Jimin? I am normal. I’m just trying to make sure you stay on track with your studies.”

Jimin raised an eyebrow, the teasing smile never leaving his face. “Yeah, sure. But there’s more to life than just studying. You might want to try living a little.”

Yoongi opened his mouth to retort, but before he could say anything, Jimin changed the subject again, his voice turning more serious.

“You know, Yoongi Hyung,” Jimin began, leaning forward slightly, “I’ve always thought it was kind of funny. How serious you are. It’s almost like you’re trying to hide something. Like... you’ve got this side of you that you don’t show anyone.”

Yoongi furrowed his brow. He knew where this was going. “I’m not hiding anything. I’m just focused on my work.”

Jimin smirked, clearly enjoying the way Yoongi was reacting. “Sure, sure,” he teased. “You keep telling yourself that. But I think there’s more to it than that. Like... maybe you’re just afraid to let go of that ‘professor’ mask.”

Yoongi's jaw clenched, but he kept his voice steady. “You’re wrong, Jimin. I’m not pretending to be anything. This is who I am. I’m your professor, and that’s all you need to know.”

Jimin's eyes glinted with mischief as he leaned in, lowering his voice just a little. “Oh, come on, Yoongi Hyung. You know I’m not just some regular student to you. You can admit it. I’m... special.”

Yoongi felt a wave of irritation wash over him. He had heard Jimin speak like this before, but now it felt different. “Don’t get ahead of yourself,” he snapped, trying to rein in his temper.

Jimin just grinned, clearly enjoying the reaction he was getting. “I can tell you’re getting worked up. You’re cute when you’re annoyed, you know that?”

Yoongi’s patience finally snapped. “That’s enough, Jimin. I’m not going to sit here and let you get under my skin.”

But Jimin wasn’t done. He wasn’t backing down. “You know, Yoongi Hyung,” he said suddenly, with a look that was both playful and pointed, “I’ve been thinking about something. About... my childhood crush.”
