The morning sun streamed through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room. Mark stirred first, the warmth of Lexie still curled against him making it hard to get out of bed. He smiled to himself, enjoying the peaceful sight of her sleeping on his chest, her hair slightly tousled and her breathing steady.

But the peace didn’t last long.

Lexie’s phone, sitting on the nightstand, suddenly buzzed loudly, jolting Mark slightly. He glanced over, watching as it lit up with notification after notification. It buzzed once, twice, three times in rapid succession before finally settling into a steady rhythm of pings. Mark reached out, grabbed the phone, and squinted at the screen.

Group chat: “Wedding Extravaganza!”

Callie: “Wake up, Lexie! It’s dress shopping day!!!”

Meredith: “Don’t think you’re skipping this, Lex. I’ll drag you out in your PJs if I have to.”

Arizona: “We’re picking you up at 10. Be ready!”

Callie: “Also, don’t forget your coffee. It’s going to be a long day.”

Mark chuckled, shaking his head. The girls weren’t going to let Lexie sleep in, not today. He turned his attention back to Lexie, still blissfully unaware of the chaos brewing on her phone. He brushed a strand of hair away from her face and kissed her forehead softly.

“Lex,” he murmured, his voice low and gentle. “Wake up, sleepyhead. Your phone’s about to explode.”

She stirred slightly, mumbling something incoherent, but didn’t wake up fully. Mark smiled, deciding to give her a little more encouragement.

“Your sister and the girls are coming for you,” he added, his tone teasing. “They’re taking you dress shopping, remember? First day of summer, big plans, all that?”

At that, Lexie groaned softly, her eyes fluttering open. She blinked up at Mark, her expression groggy. “Dress shopping?” she mumbled, still half-asleep.

Mark laughed and nodded toward her phone. “Yeah, and based on the number of messages you’ve got, they’re not taking no for an answer.”

Lexie sighed, sitting up slowly and rubbing her eyes. “I forgot that was today. What time is it?”

“Almost nine,” Mark said, handing her the phone. “They’ll be here in an hour.”

Lexie scrolled through the messages, groaning at the enthusiasm radiating from the group chat. “They’re way too excited for this,” she muttered, but there was a small smile tugging at her lips.

Mark leaned back against the headboard, watching her with amusement. “It’s your wedding, Lex. They’re allowed to be excited. Besides, it’s not like I’m getting off easy. Derek’s dragging me, Jackson, and Owen to pick out tuxes today.”

Lexie smirked, setting her phone down. “Oh, poor you. I’m sure trying on suits with your friends is such a hardship.”

Mark grinned, pulling her back into his arms for a quick hug. “Let’s just say we’re both in for a long day. But I’ll survive if you promise to send me a sneak peek of the dress.”

Lexie laughed, shaking her head. “Nice try, Sloan. You’ll see the dress when I walk down the aisle.”

Mark pretended to pout, but there was a sparkle in his eyes. “Fine. Just don’t forget to have fun, okay?”

She smiled, leaning up to kiss him softly. “You too. Try not to drive Derek crazy.”

As Lexie got out of bed to start getting ready, Mark stretched and grabbed his phone. Today marked the beginning of the official wedding countdown, and even though the day was packed with errands, he couldn’t help but feel excited. In just a few short weeks, he’d get to call Lexie his wife.
