And that thought made the chaos of tuxes and dresses more than worth it.

Lexie shuffled to the bathroom, her hair still a mess from sleep, while Mark leaned back against the pillows, scrolling through his own messages. His group chat with Derek, Jackson, and Owen was considerably less enthusiastic than the girls’ chat, but the messages still made him smirk.

Derek: “Pick you up at 10:15. Don’t be late.”
Jackson: “Does anyone else think this is overkill? A tux is a tux.”

Owen: “Jackson, it’s a wedding. Try to look like you care.”

Mark: “Jackson’s just mad he has to put his shirt back on for once.”

Jackson: “Real original, Sloan. You’re the one marrying Grey, not me. Why do I have to suffer?”

Mark chuckled to himself, already anticipating Jackson’s complaints throughout the day. He could hear Lexie humming faintly as she turned on the shower, the sound bringing a soft smile to his face.

A few minutes later, Lexie emerged from the bathroom, looking more awake but still grumbling under her breath about the early start. She pulled on a comfortable sundress, tying her hair into a loose ponytail, and turned to find Mark watching her, an amused expression on his face.

“What?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Nothing,” he said with a shrug, his grin widening. “You just look cute when you’re grumpy.”

Lexie rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide the faint blush creeping into her cheeks. She grabbed her phone and checked the time. “I still have 20 minutes before they get here. Want coffee?”

Mark shook his head. “Nah, I’m good. But you might want to brace yourself. Meredith and Callie are probably going to try to make this a whole event.”

Lexie groaned, sinking back onto the bed for a moment. “I know. Meredith’s been sending me Pinterest links for weeks. I just want to find a dress, say yes, and be done with it.”

Mark leaned over and kissed her forehead. “You’ll be fine. Just don’t let them talk you into anything too... poofy.”

She laughed, sitting back up. “Don’t worry, poofy isn’t my style. Besides, I already know the kind of dress I want. I just hope they have something close.”

Mark nodded, his expression softening. “You’ll look amazing in anything, Lex. But I can’t wait to see you in the dress.”

Lexie smiled, leaning in to kiss him briefly before her phone buzzed again. This time, Meredith was calling.

“Guess it’s time,” she said with a sigh, answering the call. “I’m coming, I’m coming! You don’t have to blow up my phone.”

Mark smirked as she headed toward the door, phone pressed to her ear and a playful glare in his direction. As she left, he leaned back against the pillows, already dreading his own errand for the day but secretly excited about how everything was starting to fall into place.

Today marked the first day of summer—and the first major step toward their wedding day.

The bridal shop was bustling with excitement when Lexie and the girls arrived. Meredith, Callie, Arizona, and April were practically vibrating with energy as they ushered Lexie inside, each of them carrying iced coffees or smoothies to fuel the day. The rows of white gowns, sparkling with intricate beading and lace, stretched endlessly before them.

“Okay, Lexie,” Meredith said, taking charge immediately. “What’s your vision? Ballgown? Mermaid? Lace? Satin?”

Lexie looked slightly overwhelmed but smiled at her sister’s enthusiasm. “Something simple but elegant. Definitely no poofy skirts, and I’d like something timeless.”
