Seeing Zhu Yu in a daze, Bai Shuo, who was carrying the tree, turned to her. “What’s wrong? Where should this tree be planted?”

Zhu Yu quickly snapped out of it. “Put it down for now. It’s too heavy, and we still have some distance to walk. I’ll call the workers to move it.”

Bai Shuo’s ears turned slightly red, and a single thought filled his mind—“She’s worried about me.”

But he wasn’t an ordinary person. Carrying this small tree was effortless for him. He cleared his throat and said, “It’s not heavy. I can handle it.”

Then, in a lower voice, he added, “Besides, the sooner it’s planted, the sooner you can go back and rest.”

Otherwise, leaving the tree in Zhu Yu’s room would just be a nuisance. He really didn’t understand how these potted plant companies did business.

Carrying the tree, Bai Shuo left the room. When he reached the stairwell, he turned his head to look at Zhu Yu. “What’s wrong?”

Zhu Yu shook her head to clear her thoughts and quickly followed. “Nothing.”

“Then just come with me,” Zhu Yu said. “I plan to plant this tree in the tiger enclosure, where Yan Yan lives. It’ll take about ten minutes to walk there. Let’s rest once we get downstairs—I’ll have the staff drive it over.”

Bai Shuo refused. “No need. I’m faster than a car.”

Zhu Yu hesitated. “But this tree is really heavy. I’m worried you—”

“Zhu Yu.” Bai Shuo interrupted her, but when he looked at her, he found it a bit difficult to say the words. “I know, I know…” “You like me, so you’re worried about me.”

“But we’re in the zoo right now. You’re the director. You should consider the bigger picture. I’m clearly more convenient than a vehicle. Don’t think about anything else.”

With that, Bai Shuo turned and walked off, carrying the tree at a rapid pace. He stood out even more in the zoo with that imposing sight.

Zhu Yu was stunned. “What is he even talking about?”

He hadn’t even officially started work yet, but he was already so considerate of Lingxi’s needs. What a top-tier employee.

Zhu Yu was touched. She thought to herself that she must give Bai Shuo a bonus at the end of the month. She quickly caught up with him. “Since you insist, we’ll do it your way. But if you feel even a little uncomfortable, tell me immediately, okay?”

Bai Shuo nodded.

The two of them walked toward the tiger enclosure, carrying a large tree with them. Along the way, they encountered several employees. Whenever curious glances fell on them, Zhu Yu would explain:

“This is Bai Shuo, our zoo’s new employee. He’s helping me plant a tree in the tiger enclosure.”

The staff at Lingxi Zoo were all very friendly, greeting Bai Shuo warmly. Bai Shuo nodded in response to each greeting but said little.

Still, this didn’t affect the employees’ positive impression of him. A new worker, showing up early to help with tasks, carrying a massive tree that looked to be dozens of kilograms, and standing at least five or six meters tall—how difficult must that be? Yet, Bai Shuo looked completely at ease, walking as effortlessly as if he were weightless.

Even though he wasn’t particularly talkative, the employees were understanding.

Sometimes, it wasn’t about words—it was about actions. And Bai Shuo was a handsome, strong, and diligent newcomer.
