"Welcome to my favourite event, Thunderblade!" Chen greeted.
"Hey I know this game," Griffin said.
"No! It's my game. I made it up. Fully original," the man-child insisted. He pulled out a jade blade. "A Jade Blade for you Master Lloyd of Power. And another for Chamille, Master of Form." Chen threw them each a helmet and a jade blade. Lloyd got green and Chamille got orange.
"Rules are simple. Each lap you complete with your blade in possession, a point. Most points before time expires, you win!"
"Whoa whoa, what about us?" Griffin asked. "Are we supposed to stand here?"
"You get to help anyone you wish or hurt for that matter. You're free to choose sides. I'm not a dictator," Chen said cheerfully and people began pushing the Ninja to grab an orange helmet. I went over to it and I couldn't decide. I wanted to help the Ninja but my sister was on the other team. I glanced at the small green team, meeting Lloyd's pleading eyes and I looked over at my sister whose eyes said that I should join her team.
But why should I help them? I look over at Chen. His face was directing me to stick with the plan. Sometimes I hate my father.
I grabbed an orange helmet, mouthing sorry to Lloyd. One day he'll understand, or never if the plan actually works. I stood next to Skylor.
We got into our clumps and the two fighters were at the front, ready to start. Lloyd looked uncertain as my father began announcing the two.
"On your mark, get set. Good luck to everyone! But mostly Chamille because we want the Green Ninja out. NOW GO!" Why is Chen a blithering idiot?
The fight began, Chamille taking the lead but Lloyd soon caught up. The loudspeaker blared again and the rest of us sped off. I saw Skylor telling Kai that Lloyd was competition. How can she stick to the plan when it's completely wrong?
There was a lot of pushing and shoving which I tried to avoid. Kai ended up running into Lloyd and I couldn't help glancing back feeling guilty that I didn't help them.
By now it was 4 - 3 and Camille was in the lead. I had so far stayed away from the pushing and shoving but I had a feeling that wasn't going to last long.
It didn't.
Chen had decided to start putting in ramps and I almost tripped over one. Shadow dude ended up hitting Lloyd in the back and his jade blade went flying. Pale Man picked it up. Everyone began crowding Lloyd and Jay and I decided that was it. I shoved Shadow Dude out of the way as we passed Kai on the floor.
"Thanks," Lloyd said.
"No problem." I sped off, dodging the poison cloud. A large vehicle emerged from the ground and Chamille hopped on it. She sped past us, laughing. Three people crowded Lloyd and I grabbed Pale Man by the clothes to yank him off but Jay was pushed around the arena and into me and Lloyd, the three of us tumbling to the side.
"We are so not loved," Jay groaned.
"Come on! Chamille just got another point!" I urged the two up. I glanced around to see Skylor talking to a struggling Kai.
"This did wonders for my back though," Lloyd stated as he and Jay stood up. We began skating again to see Kai knocking Chamille off the vehicle and the Jade Blade out of her hand. Jay picked it up and I smiled.
Chamille chased after Jay who was having way too much fun taunting her. As she chased after him, the three others on her team crashed into her as Lloyd jumped over them. My sister had stopped talking to Kai as we came up behind him.
"Don't worry about Skylor," I told Kai as I joined him on his right.
"Lloyd's closing the gap, but the clock's against us," Jay said from Kai's left.
"So is everyone else."
"Hey!" I growled.
"Except Taylor," Kai added. "Garmadon's right, the more we exclude everyone, the more they gang upon us."
"What are you saying?" Jay asked.
"I'm saying we tell them about Chen. If others knew what this tournament is really about, maybe they'd help us."
"Worth a try." Jay's voice was unsure. I tried to play it like I didn't know what they were talking about. "But time's running out and Lloyd's got a lot of ground to make up."
"What are you guys talking about?" I asked, trying my best to sound confused before Chamille came and bumped into Jay, making him drop her blade. She picked it up.
"Yummy, I got a job to finish!" Kai spun out of control and into the hands of my sister.
"Are you trying to take me out too?" Sky asked.
"No. Taylor, you better hear this too." I slowed down so I was able to hear their conversation. "You're right, we're not all ninja. But Chen is the real enemy. He doesn't care about who wins, he wants to steal our powers so he can perform some sort of spell." I tried my best to act surprised.
"A spell? What kind of spell?" Pale Man asked, skating beside me.
"I don't know, but we have to stay in the tournament to find out." Jay was talking to Griffin, trying to convince him to help them stop Chen. It seemed as if they had talked to everyone except Chamille who bumped into Kai, sending him tumbling along the floor. Kai and Skylor got in the abandoned vehicle and I sat on top.
He drove it past Lloyd,
"Need a lift?" Kai asked.
"Ah! You took the buggy!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"We took the buggy." I corrected him smugly. Lloyd noticed me and my sister who was also there.
"Take the wheel!" Kai said and the three of us jumped out as Lloyd got into the driver's seat. The car turned green.
Chamille came up to Lloyd and he tried to get her to side with us but she ended up pulling Lloyd out. The two raced, neck and neck but they ended up tripping over, Chamille dropping her blade in the process. They stood up and Chamille crossed the finish line first except she didn't have her jade blade.
We cheered and my sister dropped the guy that was floating in midair. Lloyd's score changed to 106. Chen started yelling and kicking his legs like a child.
"Noooo! He cheated! Lloyd loses."
"No way. Lloyd won fair and square," Griffin said. "You're the one who cheated."
"Yeah!" I called out in agreement.
"My tournament, my rules." Chen turned around.
"And just what rules are those?" Pale Man asked. "If Lloyd's out then so am I!"
"Me too!" Kai ran forward to join Pale Man.
"Me three!" Jay said.
"If you kick us all out, what kind of tournament will you have then?" Skylor asked.
"Fine, have it your way! Form loses." Chamille dropped into a dark hole. The rest of us began cheering. Lloyd turned to me.
"Thanks," he said, rubbing the back of his neck as he blushed slightly.
"No problem." I smiled, blush forming on my cheeks as well. I turned to skate away but he grabbed my wrist.
"No, really. You were the first one to help us out there. The offer still stands," Lloyd said and I tried to avoid his stunning eyes.
"I'll see," I said before skating away.
