As we approached Cloud Kingdom, the gates swung open, revealing an old man with a bowl cut.
"It's terrible," I whispered through a giggle to Jay who barked out a laugh in return.
"Shut up!" Cole hissed at us which only made me giggle more. Jay hit me in the side, and I shut up, fixing my posture.
"Welcome to Cloud Kingdom. We've been expecting you," the man said, ignoring me and Jay. I exchanged glances with Zane and Jay as Cole and Kai looked at each other.
"Ha, how are we—" Jay began.
"Standing on a cloud? Easy. In other Realms, there are other rules. I'm Fenwick." He bowed. "I've been asked to show you around." I let out an unamused 'huh' and crossed my arms. Kai walked up to him,
"Nice to meet you. I'm—"
"Kai, yes, we all know. You're quite popular with the other monks. Up here, we see everything that goes on in Ninjago."
Cole stepped forward. "Then you know—"
"You've travelled far for the Sword of Sanctuary, a powerful weapon that can foresee your opponent's next attack. It's also the second clue to finding the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master."
"Blimey. But how be you—" Zane started as he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Finishing your sentences?" Fenwick asked. I was about to comment on how annoying it was when he looked at me and spoke again, "I know, it's rather annoying, but up here we know, let's just say...we know what's going to come next." The man paused and turned around. He began to walk up the stairs before talking again, "Come, I know Morro isn't far behind. Follow me and I'll explain."
We travelled in silence, and I fiddled with my suit. Fenwick seemed a little too nice and too knowledgeable but what was I to know? I grew up on an isolated island with very few people. How would I know if he was being genuine?
I glanced up at the others who were taking in the magnificent city. I didn't have time to admire it, Morro still had Lloyd.
Soon enough, we reached the library and Fenwick pushed open the large doors. All the monks turned to look at us.
It was long with walls covered in storage full of scrolls and rows of desks on either side of the rug. It was beautiful.
"Wow, it's the ninja," I heard a monk say and one waved at me. I sheepishly waved back.
"I know you're familiar with a few of the realms. Cloud Kingdom is just one more of the Sixteen Realms that exist parallel to Ninjago." Fenwick stopped.
"Sixteen Realms?" Kai echoed.
"In this realm, we strive for greater understanding and let go of distractions. There is no television, no video games—"
"No video games? Hmmph. Not impressed," Jay pouted and crossed his arms causing me to let out a chuckle.
"It appears all any lad does here be writing," Zane added on, his pirate voice still thick.
"That is because here, our words matter." Fenwick turned around. "You see, in Cloud Kingdom, we are the writers of destiny. It was here that it was decided that Lloyd should be the Green Ninja. And just now, that Zane should find his voice again."
"I sense my vocal pattern has returned without any repairs."
"Ugh! He doesn't talk like a pirate anymore," Jay huffed, and I frowned. Cole tilted his head in confusion,
"How'd that happen?"
"It was written." Fenwick shrugged, pulling out a scroll, and my frown grew.
