Prime! Shadow x Reader | The Space Between The Void |

Prologue

'I need to be patient, I'm sure it was no- orange?' A quick orange flow can be seen almost whizzing past her down below, it was quick and furious similar to the blue dust she had seen earlier, not it stopped moving. 'I've never seen anything like this before?' 

She quickly glides down the mountain towards the alluring orange glow, huffing at how quickly she was moving a bead of sweat could be seen forming atop her forehead. Slowly and hesitantly she reaches out and touches it lightly, only for the glow to quickly flee another way. Almost as if she had frightened it, and as quickly as it came it went yet again.

Leaving her dumbfounded, she quickly closes her eyes and tells her bound body to let go of the universe. In an instant, she was back right where she had been before traversing, on a shard outside of the now ominous golden glow. 

"I need to let it go for now, nothing more happened while I was in there, so it may have been a fluke.. maybe." Her words denied her access to breath at first almost as if she was lying to herself. 

She allowed the silence to engulf her as she began, controlling the shard towards her original area down below towards the void of this space in between, in a deep thought she sat near the rocks she had created. She knew what she had felt wasn't something good. The power that she contained was the same that was flowing off from inside of that cave, with only so much that she could do she needed to be aware and to pay very close attention to that universe. "ah!", Almost as if a wave had crashed against her the power that she was once used to control the crystals around her begin to fade a headache, began to foreign her head as she looked around.

Y/N clenched her head her gloved fingers digging deep towards her temples, "What is happening, whats-whats going on? Some please!" Her heart began to race rather quickly and her eyes had started to flicker between a translucent white to purple. 

She fell to her side and had curled into a ball trying to maintain any sort of control over the migraine. Tears unbeknownst to her fiercely trickled down her now squeezed-shut eyes. 'make it stop make it stop' 

It complies. Y/N who was now a sobbing mess, unclenched her teeth and pried her fingers from her now silent head, getting to her knees her eyes quickly darted to the yellow universe, which was no longer pulsing either. 

Allowing herself to gasp for air, she slowly stands back up, her dress now covered in soot from the rocks as she brushes herself off. "I think I need to sleep, I can't seem to remember the last time I ever had. When I awake I will check on the universe again, possibly by then more of my questions could be answered." She turns to look at the rocks that are now disassembled and floating away. 

Sighing, a frown can be seen forming on her face, her brows furrowing attempting to make sense of the situation at hand. Yet all that she could think about was the mysterious orange light that she had seen, and how she had never seen it before. It could hold the answers for the explosion and why or what caused this all to happen.

But for now, she hops off the platform, allowing herself to sink further down into the void on a small rock that has a rock bed and pillow, sure, it's quite uncomfortable but the shimmer was to die for. Y/N landed gracefully on the platform laying herself down on the rock. 

Allowing her eyes to close as a much-needed slumber quickly engulfed her.

'I know what I felt' 

'A presence'

'Another person'

'It was cold'

'It felt sad'

A strange sensation slowly built up and up, a pulsing glowing between each universe started to occur. The rainbow luminescent fractured off of the yellow universe, spreading its light to each of the other ones. 

Something isn't right something is about to happen and she can feel it she can feel it in her dreams she can see it with her eyes closed her mind and body know that something is going wrong. She begins to try to wake herself up from the slumber that she's in feeling as if she is trapped in a dream of fog or daze across her eyes. 

'WAKE UP'

Quickly she woke up a pain hit her on the head as she shot up from the rock bed that she lay upon. 

"OW! What? What is that!?" She felt her head and looked to the side to see a green and glowing gemstone, and yet again as quickly as that migraine went away, it came back, not as fierce as the first time but she felt herself fading in and out, as if she were traversing between universes. Her heart began to race as she looked around quickly not seeing anything nearby.

"No no, something isn't right, please I need to get to that universe, I need to protect the shattered space." Frantically she picks up the gemstone and while she's examining the bright emerald that had somehow landed upon her. It pangs her that this would be impossible for anyone or anything to get here into this space.

 'cmon, cmon powers work with me here' Y/N cannot seem to get a grasp on what might be going on quickly she drops the gemstone and starts to conjure up some wings, upon realizing that her magic is not working she gives up and starts jumping up to each platform and attempting to get higher and higher away from the bottom of the void.

 To try and go and check on the yellow universe that had originally given her such problems so much was going on in her mind, she wasn't even sure where to begin. She wasn't sure if she was going to get there fast enough and she wasn't sure what may be going on her landing became messy as her brain became more and more foggy.

A bright beam of light can be seen flying past as she finally ascends to the top, images of other mobians can be seen while a blue blur quickly shoots into the now pulsing red universe. 'Not good- are they, other mobian..'

A voice.

"Sonic!" Fierce and firm, at a booming volume, an orange light flies right past her. She quickly ducks down flattening herself against the rock she had landed on. Her chest heaves in and out, her eyes shake, and she begins to think she's losing her mind.

'It can't be, nobodies have been in here since' A loud thumping can be heard, she pears up from the rock noticing the same orange light smashing its fists into the red universe, unlike the blue blur who was able to pass right through it seems as though they were trapped in the in-between such as yourself.  

Minutes passed but Y/N's heart rate never slowed down even for a second and she never once arose from the position she was in. The pounding eventually stopped but the orange light never left the spot it was in, almost as if it were watching and waiting for something to happen.

There was a shift in the air and Y/N could feel her magic had been weakened, possibly even tainted by whom or whatever had caused this occurrence. 'This can't be happening' 

Y/N grip on the rock began to weaken, her foot sliding against it slightly only to pick herself back up quickly. Her brows furrowed and she turned to see the orange light had quickly turned around, to her dismay she noticed the movement of the rock had changed compared to the others. 

But it decided not to pursue the issue. 

'I need to stay low and watch for now'
