Wake up

WAKE UP!

"I'm AWAKE!" My head quickly shoots up. Shadow, who was watching me stir uncomfortably, is quite close. When I shot up, our heads ended up bumping together.

"How long was I out again? I have never had this much issue using my powers before. " I rubbed my head where ours had bumped. A soft hum arises from my throat, as I peer into his ruby eyes. 

Shadow lets out a sigh, shaking off the head bump, slowly getting up from the squatting position he was once in. "Maybe a minute or so, not nearly as long as last time. What did you see and how did you know his name is Sonic?" His cold demeanor quickly returns as he offers me a hand to stand up.

I all too willingly accepted and stood next to the ebony hedgehog, who was a tad bit taller than me. "Well, my powers are iffy, so to speak. But when you had placed a hand on my shoulder, suddenly I could hear the two of them talking. Though I could only see the blue hedgehog or Sonic as was mentioned." 

I put my hands on my hips, attempting to connect the dots, I open my mouth to speak, and Shadow stays silent, practically on his tip-toes, waiting for me to continue my findings. 

"Sonic had some sort of energy, unusual for anyone else to carry prism energy such as myself. But it felt like it somehow intertwined with his own. I need to know what happened, and how the both of you got here to begin with." I sigh, gently side-eyeing Shadow, who, if missed by a hair, had a slight change of expression, worry. 

"Alright, but I need to stay by the portal, just in case," Shadow exclaims, not waiting for an answer, he quickly jumps to the next rock and then to the portal. I shortly followed after pulling the rocks toward me so I could easily step down. 

My energy no longer feels so off-balanced, not since Sonic had put some sort of metallic device on his own. It's almost as if it regulated not only his prismatic energy but my own as well. 

Without even looking at me Shadow begins, "It had started as nothing more than Sonic being a complete buffoon, causing a huge crash to happen and a crater to form. Unbeknownst to him, it caused the mountain behind him to start to crack and break away. That was until today, I'm not sure why, but Eggman- Sonic enemy, long story. He wanted the prism and was drilling to get it, Sonic, the idiot, hit the prism, causing it to shatter. I had used my chaos control to teleport out right at the exact moment, and that's how I'm here. I lost the chaos Emerald though so unlike Sonic who can go through these portals, I'm stuck here with you." 

The last part came out a tad bit harsh, besides that, you were not only more confused but more understanding of where Shadow's frustration was. I of all mobian know how it feels to be stuck here for years, all alone. Shadows' dark presence and hard glare began to get to me quickly, the silence was quite deafening. "Right sorry Shadow, I'm just a bit confused but I'm here to help. As the guardian of this space, I will do whatever I can to get you both back to your home." 

A soft smile covers my face as I reach to put a hand on his shoulder, though he quickly turns it down, backing up ever so slightly, his frown never faltering. I bite my lip, lower my hand, and rub my arm for self-comfort. "Right, well that chaos emerald you were talking about hit my head earlier actually an-" 

"Where is it?!" Shadow turns, throwing his hands down, his expression remaining. "Well, it may have fallen off after it hit my head.." LIE. My eyes knew, darting away from his firm gaze. 

His eyes ever so lightly trace around mine searching for the truth before brushing it off as a loss. "Well, how long do you think this will take." His voice has a tinge lower now, and I feel my face slightly flush. I clear my throat, "Theoretically it could take hours, minutes, days, weeks, I'm not quite sure, this hasn't happened before."
