A few more moments, pass with the much needed silence, just two 'friends' holding each other, a greedy need for touch and understanding.

"I lost someone who meant everything to me, too. Her name was Maria. She was like my sister; we did everything together." Shadow's voice was barely above a whisper, and the hug was slightly tightening.

I nuzzle against him so he knows I'm listening to what he has to say. 

"She was deathly ill, she had to live in space because her sickness was too great, her grandfather was desperate for a cure, he created me for her, a possible cure for her sickness. But- on the Ark something happened, and both of them are gone now." His voice cracked, and I could feel him shaking slightly.

"I don't know why I'm even telling you-"

"It's okay Shadow." I cut him off, my hands around his waist now.

One tight grip from us both before beginning to part ways, our eyes meet, heat rising, both of us caught blushing with despair.

We stay this way for a brief moment, hand in hand, stargazing in each other's eyes.

"Right well, we need to focus. My world is in danger after all." He lets out a dry chuckle, a small smile on his face while he brushes his quills back slightly.

We let go, for now it was okay.

The rainbow hue grew quickly around the green gateway, Shadow quickly approached it, "Sonic! I'm lost in the void, you have to keep moving!" His voice firm.

Before we knew it, out came Sonic, screaming yet again, flying back to the red gateway, we quickly chased after him. To make things easier, Shadow grabs ahold of my hand, giving me an extra boost of speed.

"Dammit!" Shadow speaks through gritted teeth, we both land in front of the same gateway yet again. Shadow shows frustration climbing every minute.

Only a moment later, we heard sounds similar to when Sonic exits and enters the gateway, it drew our attention in the distance, a ship of sorts creating a portal, before either of us could react, it was gone.

"You never said anything about ships?" Shadow cocks and eyebrow, turning to me.

My mouth agape, staring at the disappearing portal. "I- I have never seen-" Before I could finish my sentence there it comes again, shooting right past us, knocking us both hard against the nearby rocks.

"SHADOW!"

"Y/N!"

SLAM

I open my eyes, my head slightly aching from the impact. I rub my head slightly groaning while my vision refocuses. 

"Y/N?!" I call out to her, my voice cracking slightly. How long was I out for, I haven't been hit that hard in a long time.

I feel my worry growing, my heart racing faster than usual. I need to find her-

My eyes dart around as I fly around the nearby rocks, catching a slight glimpse of white, slowly falling into the void, her quills a mess.

"Y/N!" I quickly fly to her, I pick her up bridal style, making sure to find a rock flat enough to check her for major injuries.

'Please be alright'

'I got so caught up on Sonic, got in my head'

I lay her down, she looked so peaceful, beautiful, she was quite fluffy for a hedgehog. I brush her quills back into place, just how she did before.
