The old owner of a store not that far from Inarizaki High was in the back, making sure the newly arrived products hadn't been damaged by the trip when the soft chime of a bell was heard.

He smiled to himself, a chuckle escaping his lips as he entered the shop again, seeing a girl putting her bag on the counter as she made her way to a chair behind it.

"Hey," she simply said upon noticing the man's presence, stopping in her track for a second.

He frowned this time, his eyes landing on her busted lip and the dried up blood on her knuckles.

"You've been fighting again, haven't you?" She looked to the side, putting her hands in the pockets of her blazer.

"Some asshole tried to force himself on me. Gave him a hard time, that's all," he looked at her for a few seconds before smiling again, closing his eyes.

"You really are just like me and your father."

"I guess it runs in the family." Laughter bubbled in the man's throat, his eyes closing as she took out a notebook, continuing to work on something she had started in class. Next to her, her grandfather was catching his breath, his laughter dying down soon after.

He took a quick glance on whatever she was writing in her notebook, but decided he wasn't going to try and figure out what she was doing so he simply decided to ask.

"Watcha doing there? Homework?" She shook her head, not even glancing up from her paper as she answered.

"It's just some stupid project my homeroom teacher wants us to do."

"Group project?"

"Kinda."

"You asked your teacher to be alone again didn't you?"

"Yep," the older man sighed, a disapproving look settling on his face.

"[Nickname], what did I tell you about refusing social interaction?" She stopped writing and put down her pencil to look directly into the old man's eyes.

"Not something I decided was worth attention," he hit the back of her head gently as a smirk spread on her face.

"Why you brat!" He retorted, although he was smiling himself. "Listen, you should really try and consider having friends."

[Name] groaned hitting her head against the counter as she muttered a few curses under her breath.

"Again with this shit? I already told you a hundred times! I don't need friends! I'm perfectly fine on my own."

"You say that because you've never had any friends to begin with! That's why you think it's so trivial!"

"How is the concept of having friends not trivial?"

"Trust me, the moment you have friends that you'll trust so much you would be willing to jump off a cliff with them, you'll understand how not trivial it is."

"Yeah sure, whatever you say old man." He rolled his eyes taking his place behind the register as the girl resumed her work.

"Alright, don't forget ta rest, tomorrow ya have a practice match against another team so don't overwork yerself." The coach's eyes then focused on Atsumu, making the latter flinch.

"And please, don't go around askin' people ta eat lunch with ya, understood?" The team snickered as the setter looked away, embarrassed by the coach's comment.

They all walked out of the gym after they were done cleaning, talking among them about everything and anything. But one boy was silent, and unusually so. He just couldn't stop thinking about how much he wished a certain girl would accept to hang out with him.
