[Name] walked into the classroom as she normally would, as if yesterday had never happened and silently took a seat, getting her things out of her bag. A few seconds later, her eyes met a pair of grayish-yellow ones. Suna and her started at each other for a solid three seconds before he nodded in a silent greeting. She looked away doing the same.
The day before had been full of fun and discoveries for Suna. He was right about his classmate; she definitely knew how to have fun. He learned a thing or two about her, like the fact that she liked [favorite flavor] flavored ice cream and she had quite a few friends that were adults, most of them working in the police force. He thought it was ironic for a troublemaker to be friends with police officers. She also looked like she had no trouble socializing whatsoever, which meant that she really did not want anything to do with people at school.
He wondered how much he still didn't know about her. How much he didn't see.
A few seconds later, Osamu entered the classroom, drooling over a bento that didn't look like his.
"[Last name]," he called, the girl humming in response. "Ya forgot yer bento at home. I passed by the old man's store this morning, he asked me ta give it to ya." She looked at him, blinking before taking the box. She noted that he put a little too much strength in his grip on it.
"Thanks," she mumbled, "also, you're drooling." He quickly wiped his mouth, not noticing the small smile the girl was trying to suppress.
Suna noticed. He saw it all.
"Oh, by the way, I wanted ta say that the food was awesome yesterday. Ya got ta send me those recipes." He pulled out his phone, asking her to do the same. She did, although hesitantly, and passed it to Osamu who quickly tapped on the phone app. Once he was in her contact list, he noticed there was only one contact; her grandfather's.
He frowned upon seeing that. Did she really not have any friends?
"Sweet, I'll be yer first contact from school," he gave back her phone to her as she rolled her eyes.
"You say it like it's something to be proud of." He smirked.
"Because it is. Do ya know how many things Tsumu would do ta get that number?" It took these words only for her entire expression to change drastically. Her eyes narrowed into slits and, in less than a second, she had Osamu's collar in an iron grip, almost growling as she looked at him.
"Give it to him and I'll personally take care of shortening your lifespan to one more day." The boy blinked twice, looking at the girl with a puzzled face.
"Chill, I wasn't plannin' on givin' it ta him anyway," the class watched the events unfold silently, scared of what might happen next and ready to call for help if necessary.
"Why are ya so aggressive about it?" Everyone else thought he was giving her attitude, that he was indirectly telling her to chill out, but that wasn't it.
Everyone else, but her ignored the underlying worry in his voice. Everyone else, but her misunderstood the true meaning behind his words. [Name] understood it all, and yet, she never gave an answer.
She let go of his collar, letting herself fall back on her chair without another word. For the first time ever, her classmates saw her troubled, her brows furrowed and her eyes twitching. She looked like she wanted to beat the shit out of everyone, but for some unknown reason, she was holding back. Upon seeing this, Osamu's eyes saddened. He couldn't really explain it, but he felt like her persistance on being far away from Atsumu confused even herself. Almost like even she couldn't explain her behavior.
He wondered if he would've acted the same way had he experienced something similar. He wondered what option he would've chosen. Be close to the one who saved him for the sense of security it brought or be distant with them to try and forget about it all. The fact that she had to make that choice to begin with angered him.
